It looked like the author, not the quoted experts, made the claim about this looking like 2006, which doesn't surprise me. I don't think most people to this day understand the scale of what they're talking about with 2008, and the specific risks that led us there. That for years to come I think will lead to comparisons to 2008 when journalists are really just talking about current risks.

China could be heading for something like that, but not for reasons relevant to the question I was answering. I can kind of see the point on the federal reserve, but again, I'm not sure that I agree that current investment bubbles carry the same level of systemic risk as mortgage backed CDOs did in '08.
