I'd guess fan fictionally due to Illidan having Gul'dan's memories and promising him powerful epics and stuff like that!

Gorefiend was dedicated to the Horde. Illidan controls the True Horde.

No, he took out Blackhand's personal supply lines then beheaded him.

On that note, Doomhammer beheaded Blackhand, he didn't crush his skull in.

Also, no Danath.

Wasn't he rather interested in getting his own planet alongside his Brethren to conquer and dominate, thats why he helped Ner'zhul gather powerful artifacts to open the Dark portal to new planets.

I took that piece to be that Gorefiend was out for himself and not Gul'dan personally.

Perhaps he joined Illidan cuz was the only chance for him...

You know, Illidan owns Gul'dan's skull and Gorefriend only follow Gul'dan's orders...

LOL

Can't wait to see what happens when someone owns Arthas' or Sargeras' skull.

Actually, they were there, but on the wrong battle.

They were the "unarmoured, pierced berzerkers" who opened the Battle of The Spire.

Considering they clashed with Uther and the Knights of the Silver Hand I think they were ment to be the Burning Blade. As originally these two forces clashed at the Battle of the Dark Portal.
