Its been a long while since I did any sort of research about it, so yeah I'm likely mixing some of it up. Now that you say it, it does sound like I am. Still, those whacky alchemists.

While I hate the idea, I enjoy the reason for you pushing it, at least.

I want Thrall's kid to start getting development though it's probably gonna be years before he starts actually doing anything.

While I don't think Thura would have been my first choice, I do admittedly like the idea of having Anduin go for something you wouldn't expect. However I can see where it might complicate some stuff:

1) Aside from half-elves (which is a standard fantasy trope) and the mok'nathal and half-draenei orc hybrids (which just use orc models b/c reasons) Blizzard seems to be staying away from hybrid races. I can understand this from an art asset standpoint.

2) The dramatic course correction in Varian's characterization we saw in Mists would have been really complicated by something that for all intents and purposes SHOULD have extracted a very visceral reaction from him. Since Mists was also largely when we started seeing Anduin get treated as a young adult rather than a child, I think that narrative (Anduin gets a girlfriend, watch Varian react) just wouldn't have fit in the space they had to do it.

Vanessa / Anduin

So, what should we call it and promote it?

Vanduin? Andessa?

And they can party up with cousin Arator.
The idea was for them to be going through their teenaged years in Dalaran's countercultural circle and be "hot topic warlocks"

So... Illidan's inner demon from Mythic mode is not Sargeras, but just his inner demon. I guess, it's fine. BTW, it seems that now we know the fate of Azzinoth - he was probably killed and absorbed by Illidan and later became this inner demon. But I can't say that Azzinoth is this inner demon, since the novel establishes that the absorbed demon sort of merges with the host's soul, and becomes a new entity which is basically a demonic version of the host's soul. I'm trying to say that it would be wrong to call this thing Azzinoth.

Hmph, and all this hype about the most powerful dragon from Bolvar was just talk. The ending was a bit weird - you walk to the bones of a fully grown dragon... and raise a drake. Mkay.

But overall, I really like the 7.2 campaigns. Didn't expect the devs to put so much effort in them.

Why do you think it's not Sargeras? Gul'dan says he's putting Sargeras in Illidan, the quests say he's putting Sargeras in Illidan, and the guy possessing Illidan calls himself Gul'dan's master. Sounds like Sargeras to me.

I really like the idea of Illidan eating Azzinoth way back when, though.

Because of his death line. "He will claim this titan" or something like that.

Medivh referred to Sargeras in third person despite being possessed by him, didn't he?

And he also summons the Soul Fragments of Azzinoth.

It seems, that the order of things is the following: Gul'dan tries to summon the spirit of Sargeras into Illidan's corpse via the power of Eye of Aman'Thul; Khadgar uses the Light's Heart to stop this ritual near its end and to also resurrect Illidan via the Light's Heart; Khadgar's idea doesn't work the way it was intended - Illidan's inner demon steps through the Eye of Aman'Thul and stuns Gul'dan; the cinematic.

I wonder, if it means that Illidan is now free of his inner demon, since it manifested itself while Illidan was still in the crystal. Whatever the case, Illidan can still use metamorphosis according to the cinematic.

The mythic edition could be Gul'dan summoning Kiljaeden, and it would still not be canon.

Guldan is probably alive in the twisting nether anyway.

Both Guldans i suppose.

But if it's not actually Sargeras then you need to account for this line. Azzinoth isn't Gul'dan's master:

The Demon Within yells: You topple of pawn and presume to challenge its master? Such arrogance!

As well as one of its abilities, Visions of the Dark Titan.

It's cool to see that the new mounts all have cutscenes when obtaining them

Visions are just visions, even Illidan may summon them himself, since he witnessed a vision like this when Sargeras burned his eyes. On the other hand, the quote is weird, yes. But then again, maybe the demon is just full of himself, since he is part of the host for Sargeras, thus a more important figure.

But to be honest, I'm not 100% sure here. It's just weird for Blizzard to make this bit so obscure, if the inner demon is Sargeras. I'm pretty sure that if we were dealing with the real deal, they would state it outright with Sargeras' own voice.

The other thing that points towards the Sargeras is the dungeon journal:

Stage Three: The Demon Within Heroic Difficulty
When Gul'dan reaches 10% health remaining. Archmage Khadgar attempts to return Illidan's soul to his dormant body. Unbeknownst to Khadgar a dark, outworldly presence was filling Illidan's mortal shell, and the consequences of Khadgar's actions incite deadly consequences...

Derp. Maybe it's even Illidan's inner demon plus the tiny spark of Sargeras. Actually it might be the case... Soul shards of Azzinoth and the inner demon being simply called inner demon imply that the guy is inner demon (plus the voice acting with his old BT quotes), but it seems that the tiny spark of Sargeras that managed to enter Illidan's body ruined Khadgar's ritual, and so the inner demon emerged with this spark of titan in his body. So the heroes fought verus Illidan's inner demon (the one that was born back in WotA) that had a bit of Sargeras' soul in him that gave him some additional abilities and made him act like he is the big bad here. Maybe. It's hard to say for sure.

The cutscenes are very minor.

Not really "cool" if you ask me.

I'd say likely in late April/early May.

It's apparently coming out a few months before the raid tier itself opens, and it's progressed well on the PTR, so I wouldn't expect it to take longer than 2 months for the open world portion of the patch to release.

PTR is a disappointment. The patch feels about as small as 7.1.0

That's what you get for not having 12 level 110 characters.
