I rather figured the scare quotes were implied.

But on the topic of Erfworld, I'm miffed that Rob can't manage to hold onto any consistent schedule for long, but at least those who're paying are only being charged for the strips that actually come out on time, so at least they aren't paying for nothing at all.

Well then I come bearing fantastic news!

PREQUEL has updated! (That's the first strip since the last one back in 2015. And it's since updated again) Also in webcomic news, Erfworld's back in business! Also also in webcomic news, the source of Anansi's former Supernormal-themed avatar is back in focus!

These are exciting times for readers of these particular webcomics.

You're late. Did you not see me and Ramses on the Discord?

But yes, fun times! It's nice to see that power hasn't changed Jim Black, isn't it?

You mean he's on DOPE?

Seriously though, I'm annoyed that right after they've come back from a summer break, they've already missed a scheduled update.

Hmm yeah. And the tone of his message implies he chose to do it now totally arbitrarily and "just to show us how it will be" rather than to actually give the team a needed break.

Yurp. Not too pleased at all. I mean, I get it. Sometimes real life happens and you go over deadline by an hour, a day, what have you. We've all been in that type of situation. And hey, if things are tough, you take some time off to recuperate. That's all well and good, so I wasn't nearly as peeved as others were when Rob announced the summer break. I grumbled a bit when they extended it into September, but whatever. Sometimes you need a mental health break.

But I just had in mind that when they came back, they'd have gotten all of that baggage out of the way.

Well, given their past track record with months long if not a year long hiatus now and again we should be happy if they can push this "80 pages a year or more schedule" without a meltdown of some kind. : /

EDIT: Now I think if they could manage a monday-wednesday-friday update schedule with only rare breaks for holidays (both public and personal) the webcomic's future would be golden. Given their standard that seems impossible but some webcomics have godly update schedules with 5 updates a week with great art and little to no filler. And those webcomics are less popular than Erfworld and presumably earn less money, yet Erf struggles greatly with a lot of money. I don't want to bang on them, I haven't walked in their shoes, but it does seem to be a case of incompetence to some degree.

I can't say I saw it coming. I mean, I knew something was going to happen to pull them out of the fire, but my reaction to the reveal was: "Wait, who is that?", followed by a great deal of searching before I figured out what was going on. I'm not entirely sure where they're going to go with this reveal that Durkon had a kid with the evil cleric from the Linear Guild.

Anyhow, to introduce another webcomic into the conversation, I've been going through the archives of a webcomic recently, by the name of The Daughter of the Lilies. The author says the inspiration for the comic came from reading the Chronicles of Narnia and expressing frustration that many works of fiction focused on demons and all things infernal, but that few extended the same courtesy to the flip side of christian themes by examining God, angels and other such divine servants.

That said, I've not noticed anything so preachy about it that might turn anyone off (although maybe someone particularly sensitive to that stuff would have a more critical eye), and it's been a pretty good read.

How much OotS do I have to catch up on if my last memories are of Right Eye stealing Xykon's amulet and maybe Durkon on an airship?

I was afraid of that.

All the more reason to keep putting it off.

You fool! You must read it all in one sitting as soon as you can! (Actually, there are probably bits you can skip, but I can't be bothered to remember every single story line that's cropped up in the last however many years it's been).

In Erfworld news, still annoyed that the updates have gone to a once a week thing.

In Erfworld news: that webcomic is a curious mix of bad luck, bad management and creative genius. The writer's (and owner's) wife got sick with some horrible kind of cancer and will likely die, just months after they married. This has had impact on the updates ofc with him choosing for shorter updates (about half the length) and even though it was said that this means there will be no skips anymore (despite the cancer situation) we are now looking at two in a row and likely three in a row skipped.

Cancer is awful and I really feel for them but this webcomic is really starting to suffer. The slow updates coupled with, imo, the webcomic kind of starting to become too philosophical and sucking itself up its own ass are kind of killing my interest.
