I guess. I'm not sure what I expected, but I thought it would have been better than what we got. It was kind of anticlimatic to me. Then again, the guy has worked on it for years now, probably wanted to end it.

BLACK MAGE FOREVER.

For those who like Meredith Gran (Author of Octopus Pie) she's going to be writing and drawing a spin off comic of Adventure Time based on Marceline

http://io9.com/5902144/adventure-tim...mic-spin%20off

I mean, you know it's gonna be directed at a younger audience, but so is the show and we've seen many times that the show is capable of having a lot of substance and tackles some really heavy subjects.

BLACK MAGE FOREVER.

It was a 10 years old punchline, he implied this would be the ending in one of the first pages

The comment refers to Richard "Dick" Ashendale from Looking For Group (Lon-ami's avatar), who is TOTALLY NOT a Forsaken. He and Black Mage are similarly insane, but apparently Richard is less funny.

The bit about the appeal due to it "parodying" WoW is misleading. It was a WoW comic for the first few pages, but then decided to become its own universe and just rip off the art and some of the races.

Ahh, now I get it. Personally, I find both of them amusing and cool characters. Murdering sociopaths are always fun in comics, for some reason.

(Scans for overlap)

So... Girl Genius came out with a second novelization.

Wait, so there are GG books?

I didn't know that, tell me do they just follow the WC plot or is there new info in them? If so, any crucial goodies?

Anyway if you wanna talk GG, I'll also posit that Wolfenbach jr. is actually the son of the Baron and the Queen of the Amazon women, and they wanna kill him because he is a male or w/e, also I think Zeetha is his sister.

EDIT: Just in case it turns out that what I theorized has already happened I want to note that I read webcomics only once in several months, I let updates accumulate so I can get a feel of action and continuity without having to reread it over and over.

There is a lot of expansion and new info. The biggest bits being the prologues, which detail the last time that the Heterodyne Boys were seen, and what really happened during the events of the Storm King opera.

Edit: Here is a preview of the second one, if you want: http://www.baenebooks.com/chapters/9...804110_toc.htm

It is possible. I do not think that it has been explained anywhere.

Well, yeah. But what makes Black Mage, in my opinion, way funnier and a better character is the fact that his shenanigans and schemes always return to bite him in the ass and that he is actually pivotal to the plot. As evil as he is, he's usually the guy with his feet to the ground and probably the least insane of the bunch (after White Mage left).
Ever played WoD? Richard is the very definition of a Fishmalk turned up to 11. Or rather, he become one as soon as the writer decided to invent his "very own totally unique and original, do not steal, universe" but the fanbase soiled itself at the prospect of Richard becoming an actual character.

I'll just read the entirety of 8-bit theater so I know who the BM is, and get back to you.

8-bit theatre author's love for anticlimatic endings kinda disappointed me. All those little bits of backstory, along with BM's own hidden depths, - all for nothing in the end.

Sometimes the anticlimatic endings are cool

I wasn't bothered by WM defeating Chaos offscreen - that was actually a funny reference. The aftermath, I hated it.

Black Mage>Richard from pretty much all points of view imo. It's funny how these 2 are my(and many others') favorite characters in their respective comics but they wouldn't hesitate to fuck you up if they were real.

I haven't played the games but I love the comic, I think others should check it out as well, at worst you will find it decent (except HED, he is a hipster and will hate it).

Then say something!

I want to talk about Erfworld. I love everything about that comic. Most of all I love how the writer shows just how absurd a world like HoM&M's would be. But as absurd as it is to us it is reality to the people in it, and I think he handled their responses to such a world very well.

For example since people just spawn like in a video game there are no babies and no concept of heteronormativity, so gay couples are equally accepted and considered normal as heterosexual ones.

But beyond that it is well done in all aspects... well except that the updates come VERY slowly

Girl Genius is a setting where mad scientists called "sparks" rule the world badly and try to kill each other. The heroine is the descendent of an evil mongol-like family that somehow spawned a pair of folk heroes in the generation before her, and then stuff happens.

I am not a big fan of steampunk (or gaslamp fantasy), or romance, or any specific element of the setting, but it is a good story. The writing is good, the setting is rich and fleshed out, and most parts are hilarious. I recommend it.

Drowtales is a webcomic about elves that live underground and kill each other. The story mostly follows some ditz named Ariel and the rest of a group of (more or less) one male and one female student from each clan that went to this neutral school the same year at the start of the comic. The art is beautiful.

I am not sure if I like the comic, or if I just want to see what happens next. There seems to be a great dissonance between how the authors see the comic, how the fans see the comic, and how I see the comic.

There are a lot of characters, all with very long names, that each have their own personalities, backstories, and (annoyingly) in-jokes that are hard to keep track of. As the world setting guide was written when it started out as a Forgotten Realms fan fiction, it is only about half-canon. There are a bunch of side comics, some of which are broken, and some of which you have to pay to unlock.

Also, there is apparently a pile of "word of god" that I can not find that explains what is going on, as there is this big roleplaying community that knows what is going on, and shills everything that the authors tell (but don't really tell), and don't show. Which is grating as the focus of the story jumps all over.

For example: drow morality. A theme is that no one is "evil" in the setting, and the authors says it is because drow morality is simply not compatible with human thinking (somewhere in the world setting guide, I think), but they point out here that it is mostly their honor system, and that they still have a separate system of right and wrong, and some characters in the setting do have "normal" morals. Explaining karma and why getting your village enslaved is bad to a ditz as an example of the dissonance does not count to me, aforementioned honor system or not.

I do not know if I should recommend it or not.

So huh... two webcomics

Manly guys doing manly things

Grrl Power

The first is about male character references while the second is a female superhero webcomic.

Dualism!
