I think the real questions is whether or not he'll get his dad to play an elf. Or even better, Gallywix.

"'... and featuring David Bowie as King Anasterian Sunstrider."

Sweet sisters of mercy. It could actually work.

Well fuck my ass and call me Jaina. It's about time we got some news on this project. 2009 was when they announced the bloody thing, right? Listen, Duncan Jones is the son of David Bowie. Why is this relevant? Duncan, in order to for-fill the genetic quota set by David Bowie, must do at least one grand thing in his life time. Science demands it.

This movie could be his Ziggy Stardust... or it could be his Serious Moonlight...

At any rate, 2015 is shaping up to be either the best year ever for movies, or the shittiest year of my entire geek-life.

The movie will most likely feature heavy use of CGI. The only way to not make that look suck-ass would've been to make the entire thing a long rendered cut-scene - essentially what the fans wanted from the very beginning and what was enforced by the absolutely awesome HotS cinematic. So technically, they allready DID fuck it up.

The man-hours that Blizzard expends on their CGI cinematics makes the possibility of a feature-length film of the same quality impossible: there was something like a year with a full team of cinematics artists working on the five-minute MoP cinematic, and likely the same deal for the HotS cinematic. It's just not conceivable to aim for that level of detail.

It's a short list. However, those are just the films where he's credited. Screenwriters in Hollywood do script-doctor work all the time that goes uncredited, so he might have had a bunch of input on a bunch of films and there'd be no way for us to know.

That being said, I never saw Blood Diamond despite the presence of my girl Jennifer Connelly.

I'd rather watch Dragon Ball Evolution for 24 hours than to have this movie released.

I would have been shocked if you were actually overwhelmed by this.

There's no way in Hell this couldn't end up badly.

Have they announced a Warcraft movie project years ago when I became a fan while playing RoC and TFT, I would have been hyped as fuck and had it come out a year or 2 afterwards I would have watched the shit out of it.

But now, I can't help but cringe when I read that they have every intention to see it through.

Inb4 Slowpoke starts compiling his retarded casting lists again.

I'm just curious what the movie's story will be. Random warcraft story or something more, like the First war?

I can't be the only one who thinks this is a perfect opportunity to fill in the 4-year gap between Warcraft 3 and WoW.

So?

Let them hire ten times as many people and the movie will be done in two years, simple.

But wouldn't that be the worst possible choice?

If anything warcraft is noteworthy because it turned Tolkinian perceptions of things on their head, filming the one part of warcraft where this is not the case seems rather dumb.

I'd like new events for obvious reasons, either present, distant past or distant future. Certainly nothing in between.

Exactly.

Which is why I have been worried for some time about that one "from Alliance perspective" comment long ago.

Depends on the story of the movie. If the story is well-chosen than I don't see much problems, they just shouldn't make Azeroth sophisticated with too much explanations and stuff. Just let them use a small part of the lore with some breathing space.

Is this movie still based during the First War? If it does, it's gonna risk looking like a Lord of the Rings clone to regular people. I am also afraid of the retcons that might have to done.

Moon and Source Code were amazing movies. I have no idea why anyone would be underwhelmed by this. Actually I think this is a better pick then Sam Raimi.

I hope they include :raptor::raptor::raptor::raptor::raptor:, she is more interesting than much of other character they got. They retcon much already, why not use her.

She so beautiful.

Just they not put Moira in movie!

Can't wait to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sean Bean, and John Malkovich save Azeroth from the Burning Legion while calling each other fags and arguing over who gets what loot.

I'm scouring the internet for comments about this news and I'm laughing my ass off.

There are people who genuinely think this movie would be about collecting boar asses (maybe no that much, but still, they think it will be focused on the gameplay elements of WoW).

Some people think they'll make characters based off the classes (which is possible, although really unnecesary, if you ask me).

They're completely ignorant about the fact that Warcraft has an actual story behind. I know, crazy, right?

I'm not even saying they don't know their lore. They don't know there's such thing.

It reminds me of the scrapped "Sims" movie, when no one knew about the URBZ characters and such (which has a sims rpg for the GBA, great game).

I'm doing the same thing and I can't find anything but:

a) people trying to joke about game mechanics;
b) people saying what shit this game is "to waste Duncan's talent", because it has no lore behind it

And there are also people seriously suggesting that they should make it into a comedy.
