Panda Manual The Book of Demon Hunter Names

What will you call your Demon Hunter(s)? Why did you choose said name(s)?

I've reserved two names:

Maelvos Bloodelf Male
and
Incurian Nightelf Male

Although my Nightelf Female Rogue was already sort of a Demon Hunter by the name of Ravina. I need to decide what to do with her... I might keep her a rogue and just drop the Demon Hunter motif I worked hard to get or reroll her as the Demon Hunter.

I like the idea of having one Alliance and one Horde of each class, which puts me at at an impasse simply because I already have a Nightelf Male Druid and a Nightelf Female Rogue. Horde side I have a Female Bloodelf Warlock, so that leaves the male spot open. I might just hold off on a Nightelf Demon Hunter in hopes we get new races down the road that can also be made into DHs. Personally I can see them suggest that Illidan trained some of the Orcs under his command to be DH, but the Alliance side has bigger issues. It's possible that there were some Broken trained and perhaps unlocking their metamorphosis restored their physical state. It would be really neat if they provided Broken as the base option and the Metamorphosis turned them into Draenei with special skins, but I don't see that happening. Surely Naga would be an option as well, but double jump seems like it would be sort of weird. Given how races have awkwardly become things in the past, I'd also be willing to accept human DH, after all he did have a number in his service and they were active on Draenor, it's believable with some heavy handed wand waving that a few humans might have fought along side Illidan in overthrowing the previous masters and joining his cause, as long as it's communicated.

@Sonne: Maybe some of the human concubines he enslaved in Dalaran or after taking Outland showed promise? That would make human DH's a possibility. Gnomes and other Kirin Tor/Alliance Expedition races too.

Can't decide between 'Buffy' and 'Terize'. Although the former will probably make people wonder if I give buffs.

Kereshia, probably. Its the name I had originally used for my first DK. Adapted it from the name Ereshkigal (Sumerian goddess of the underworld).

Someone's father?

I'll probably go with a name that starts with Az and add a s, to make it Azs. If I make a male DH I'll do the same but with Tor instead of Azs.

I neglected to tell you the name origins. If you know me, I tend to be pretty weirdly thought out with my naming conventions.

Maelvos my Bloodelf (shaping up to likely be my primary DH) is named using the celtic word meaning prince (because Bloodelves are poncy like that). It also plays off the nearby Maelstrom which in itself is dutch for whirl stream. This applied with vos adds two other elements, vos being a common word in the common language, sort of comes out as "The Prince" with a violent magical connotation connected to it.

Incurian on the other hand is a throw away name I didn't put much thought into. My Night Elf Druid Tailos has three word plays in his name that I appreciate, this name is meant to be a counter point to that in some ways ironically not being a druid. The Inc is to play of Incubi and the Curian is a nightelven naming suffecs such as Malfurion. Malfurion itself has seemingly little thought regarding it, as I see it as bad fury since furion has no real meaning, nor do other real applications of other letters moved around it form other cohesive meaning. Since his name has had in the past the Mal dropped from it in social convention with Tyrande one would assume to believe that it is infact "Bad Fury". When I put together Incurian as a name I also enjoyed the "incur" meaning something unpleasant, plus it sort of feels like "incure" which is to say incurable in his fel taint. So it kind of worked in an unsuspecting way when I typed it out.

I like how much thought you put into those names.

My reasons for the Azs- and Tor- prefixed are pretty simple. The names of night elven royalty seem to start with them.

Now, I'm not saying that I want to RP my Demon Hunter as a prince or princess. I don't RP, and it be silly anyways because night elves have no royalty anymore and RPing such a kind of character is too pretentious. (Or is it? We are the super awesome Commander and leader of our Order, after all.) Nothing prevents me from naming my characters after long forgotten regents that predate Azshara, however.

Heisenberg

Say my name.

As for Helsza, Hel as the for the Goddess of Hell in Nordic mythos and -sza as my tongue in check reference for the Red dragon flight and their mission of preserving life while a DH is about taking life... of demons.

I've used something similar with my DKs to mock the red dragonflight and piss off other players.
