Burrow Roots
"Burrow Roots" was a New Horde song, written sometime after the journey to Kalimdor and popularized during the Third War. Like most Orc songs, it was conceived by a member of the Warsong Clan before spreading to other Horde members. It was generally sung around campfires or during long marches.

Recommended Melody: Tramp! Tramp! Tramp!

Lyrics
Itís a long road Blackhand marched us, filled with cow and fowl to feast,
Itís a long road Orgrim marched us, filled with swine,
Itís a long road Nerízhul marched us, filled with helboar and with beast,
But the road with Thrall grows where the suns wonít shine!

Burrow roots, damn you to the earth, earth damn you!
Burrow roots, damn you to the earth!
Now the orcish cries of war, they canít be heard anymore,
ĎCause our stomachs scream the loudest of them all!

From the bowels of the soil, where no decent prey will tread,
Grows a life that never sees the light of day,
Itís like biting into dirt, but itíll be your daily bread,
Damn, these burrow roots are just like eating clay!

Burrow roots, damn you to the earth, earth damn you!
Burrow roots, damn you to the earth!
Now the orcish cries of war, they canít be heard anymore,
ĎCause our stomachs scream the loudest of them all!

Do you hear the battle drums, do they feel you deep with pride?
Did you notice theyíre on top of walking meat?
Do you try to inch in closer, get that drummer at your side,
Just to catch the smell of kodo with each beat?

But burrow roots, damn you to the earth, earth damn you!
Burrow roots, damn you to the earth!
Now the orcish cries of war, they canít be heard anymore,
ĎCause our stomachs scream the loudest of them all!

Cross the sea to a fresh start, in a new land once again,
In a land where I fight horse and pig and bear,
And if that all ainít enough, I have cow as my best friend,
Zug, those trolls were on to something now, I swear!

Oh burrow roots, damn you to the earth, earth damn you!
Burrow roots, damn you to the earth!
Now the orcish cries of war, they canít be heard anymore,
ĎCause our stomachs scream the loudest of them all!

When the Horde gets chance to sleep, lusty dreams they fill the night
Scenes of flesh and grease just dripping, sweetly torn,
Then you wake up kind of wet, your lip bleeding from a bite
Itís more tasteful than the breakfast in the morn!

Burrow roots, damn you to the earth, earth damn you!
Burrow roots, damn you to the earth!
Now the orcish cries of war, they canít be heard anymore,
ĎCause our stomachs scream the loudest of them all!

Now we just got back to camp, to those burrows set with spikes.
Thereís a corpse impaled on top of two or three
And thereís a peon chopping wood, instead of chopped up on the ground,
And without those roots, we know thatís how heíd be.

Burrow roots, keep us strong and steady,
Burrow roots, donít tie us down in herds!
Let the orcish cries of war, not be bound to senseless gore,
But to honor and survival for our race!

When we feel the haze return, when we feel the fury reign,
When weíre urged to be enslaved to blood once more,
We look to our rumbling stomachs, to our strength in little things,
And that strength is something thatís worth fighting for!

Lokítar!

Burrow roots, course and bland and simple,
Burrow roots, keep hunger at the bay,
And for the first damn time in years, we can hold our heads with pride,
Burrow roots! Guess thatís the price we have to pay.

Damn you burrow roots, but thatís the price we pay!

Such a tragic ending.

...Oh, you were doing this as Alliance. In that case, disregard what I said about visiting Galen until you can get a Horde character out there.

It's great how you can see the armor getting increasingly battered toward the end. And the emotes. XD

I had a Blood Elf at Alterac gates first, but I got tired of seeing him ride around on that giant chicken. Now a good, noble horse is a different thing entirely...

Trying to fight the ogres and local wildlife, though, I notice that the Level 20 Hunter has a far easier time than the Level 20 Rogue.

Blood elf paladins get a horse mount. And the riding training is free, still need to buy the mount though.

Do paladins really have to pay for their mounts? My warlock didn't have to purchase her "good, noble horse." Although that does make sense, because she can just summon it.

You used to get it from a quest.

As of Cataclysm you buy the mount from your class tr-
wait no MoP did away with class trainers

Paladins probably get the mount for free now too

All paladins can summon horse mounts. But I agree, that Blood elf Hawkstrider is annoying.

Tauren and draenei use unique kodos and elekks, respectively.

Guess that I was wrong, then, cause I have never rolled a Tauren/Draenei paladin....

But why the hell do Blood elven paladins get horses? They should be getting those stupid ostriches, instead of the human mount!

Heh, elf paladins. Why would an Elven Archer or an Elven Destroyer Sailor become a paladin?

But speaking of paladins, here's my Level 4 Dwarf who rushed to see Theramore before it got all asploded.

He's been sitting in that nearby chair for months now. I'll probably have him hang around indefinitely, and see where he ends up when Theramore is finally taken out of the game.

One of my Paladins is still hanging out in the Theramore pub, wondering what happened.

Elven horse is an old, and superior breed, prominent enough for the Thalassian culture to be featured on the old Quel'Thalas flag.

It's the hawkstrider that is a new addition.

Theramore is out of the game unless you walk over to a bronze dragon and tell her to warp time back to pre-bomb. I have this quest, and when I used it after the Theramore event, it still teleported me to the top of the tower (I almost died in the fall). I'm assuming when you log in, you'll be standing in the exact spot you logged out, with different scenery. So if you're in that chair, you better be ready to fall.

You can get an elven unicorn too I think
the model is in the game at least

Come to think of it, are there any (non class specific) horse mounts available to the Horde that aren't either skeletons or on fire?

I declare that Level 20 Hunters are way more powerful than Level 20 Rogues. My Elven Archer pretty much has full access to Alterac City. Killed a couple of named Ogre-Magi... and I'm pretty sure that I'll eventually have to kill them again, when I talk to the right person to give me a quest to do so.

Pet classes tend to work that way.

In honor of Disney acquiring Lucasfilm, and in honor of Slowpoke demonstrating that these forums can have Star Wars fanfiction, here's a little ditty I wrote--let's see--about four years ago.

Tales from the Cantina Band
(to the tune of Billy Joel's Piano Man)

*Itís a long, long walk from Valarianís place
And Jabbaís is further away
We're playing the cover for Chalmunís right now
Cause we've got no real choice but to stay

*A Force-sensitive spacer and a Wookiee talk shop
Though neither of them owns a ship
*And two women who call themselves sisters drink usuals
While trying to look indescript

La la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Play us a song, youíre the Cantina Band
Play us a song today
Well, itís dark and itís hot and your Kloo horn is blaring
And we wouldnít want it any other way

*Now a Hammerhead shares one last drink with a Talz
*Whose eyes guard a drunk Chadra-Fan
*And a thin figure smokes on his pipe by himself
Heís deadlier than just a mere man

*Then a guy at the bar whose face carries some scars
And a Walrus Man start up a fight
But it comes to an end when the thug loses his limb
To an elegant, brilliant blue light

(The music stops suddenly, replaced by a lightsaber hum. After a moment, the lightsaber shuts down, and the music begins again.)

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

*Now a Wolfman and Lamproid are falling in love
*While a farmer is plotting out peace
*And a Gotal Imperial is torn 'tween his female
And a payday who's finally in reach

*And one Jawa is trading for courage
*While the Ranat makes off like a thief
*No, the troopers canít get a straight answer in here
Although one doesnít like what he sees

Play us a song, youíre the Cantina Band
Play us a song today
Well, itís dark and itís hot and your Kloo horn is blaring
And we wouldnít want it any other way

*The Devaronian smiles as his finger keeps time
And it looks like heís having a blast
And he worked really hard to get us all here
Cause it sure beats lamenting the past

*Then an ambitious hunter leads a smuggler aside
But in minutes, heís dead as a nail
*And the barman invests in putting hatred to rest
When he discovers an incredible smell

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Play it again, Fiery Figrin Dían!
Play us a song, alright
Cause out of all the scum and villainy here
About half will turn Rebel tonight
