Default The structural system for Europe

From time to time, the subject arises in certain threads, often leading to a heated argument. And sometimes, it is hard to track who is of what opinion. Not to mention, it might be interesting to see what kind of system would the people of SoL prefer. So, here it is, a poll about the envisioned nature of the future Europe. Vote rationally, vote ideologically, vote out of spite, your choice.

Anyway, I have tried include as many possible systems as I could think of. If you would rather see something different, just tell us. Also, I have divided the whole thing along the lines of European and non-European. Hope you do not mind.

Edit: I could not get the whole length of the options 3, 4, 5, 6 in there, so here is the full version.

3. Independent nation states with certain overreaching structures, such as customs union, common military pact etc (European).

4. Independent nation states with certain overreaching structures, such as customs union, common military pact etc (non - European).

5. A loose confederation (tighter alliance) of sovereign nation states, aimed at heightened coordination in certain areas - foreign policy, defense and military affairs etc (European).

6. A loose confederation (tighter alliance) of sovereign nation states, aimed at heightened coordination in certain areas - foreign policy, defense and military affairs etc (non - European).

Clearly, I have very little experience in the SoL-Poll-Thread-Making department. My apologies.

Well, one could argue NATO falls under 3/4. However, this is not really about the direction of the systems, just about the systems themselves in general. But I forgot to add the Other option.

Seeing how my ideal world would be an ultra-hippy, "Imagine" by John Lennon-esque, global union of humanity, I can't oppose a unified Europe. Russia can come too if she promises to stop bullying her neighbours.

Nation states are a happenstance failure of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Be gone.

I think it's a reference to my penchant for making "odd threads with odd polls". Though neither odd would seem to apply here...

Ideally ? A Federation with some form of universal healthcare and social system akin to the one which (still ?) exists in France would be my hopes for Europe, because it would lead to an equalization of the States by the top (improving the conditions of lives in every member states, no social dumping, effective fight against climate change, more effective actions at all and any domains, etc).

But, realistically ?

Each nation-state doing its own things. There is too much cultural differences between member states of the EU and too many rifts in Europe for it to ever works, especially when Free Markets, privatizations and "All hail Globalization" are the components of the European Creed. The overreaching structures causes a lot more of problems than they solve. They have to go too. Sadly, Europe won't ever be an united power, and its time as the leader of the world is long gone. Better to accept it and adapt our societies to this reality than try to pretend that it's not the case.

Our dream for the Grand Alliance to stand a guard over Europe and its independent nations might end unfulfilled. Nevertheless, the option of our choosing is not really that much different from 3/4. The main difference would be with more collaborative and deepened approach towards the exterior.

Europe can only have lasting peace when Paris, Berlin and Moscow stand united as friends.

Ideally I'd like a world that is even more diverse than the one we have, with all ethnicities and cultures preserved. Made of regions that are mostly self-contained but with a good amount of cooperation and trade, all without coercion, just mutual respect and friendship.

It's kinda utopian, many would say the world is going towards a mega-EU with all places included in a rotten compromise between the weak and the strong (and I don't mean only countries here), so like the current EU but probably quite a bit worse.

So I guess my vote would be something like 4.
