Wow, that bit with Rory in the most recent gate episode was really stupid.

Titan: Holy shit, they're actually, finally, in Shiganshina. FINALLY. Of course the basement will not be for a while still (especially with that "trap" that was mentioned in the blurb for next month, and with Bertolt and Reiner laying in wait) but still. THEY ARE IN SHIGAN-FUCKING-SHINA. PROGRESS!

There is seriously not another anime like Gintama out there. Only in Gintama does the protagonist and one of his rivals get hit simultaneously by a truck, have their soul/ego leave their bodies, then when they try to rush back to their bodies they crash into each others on the way, the rival gets into the protagonist's body and the ego of the protagonist gets split in two, one piece into the rival's body and the second half into the anus of a dead cat in a nearby alley.
I'm in awe of an imagination that can think up a situation where half a soul enters the anus of a dead cat by mistake.

Gintama is something I constantly hear about, but it seems a little daunting to me. Doesn't it have like 300+ episodes? And I remember hearing "it doesn't get good until like 35 episodes in" or somesuch. That's a lot to invest in something.

That said, the things I see of it do strike me as pretty good.

It has twisted and silly humour most of the episodes but when it hits a story arc it reaches divinity.
The flashbacks to the bloody rebellion the protagonist took part in, his very tragic background and how he time and time again are forced to take on the other twisted foe after the other. The Benizakura arc is one of the best, they even turned those episodes into a movie. The second Gintama movie is at the top of the series story-wise though it's questionable if it can be called canon.

Hell, in one of the silly episodes the protagonist and his old comrade get their ego transplanted into two stray cats. They then find the captain of the local police force stuck in the body of a gorilla. He's commonly called the gorilla in the series. The gorilla captain then realises how much humanity steals bananas from his kindred and wants a crusade upon mankind to take back bananas.

Gintoki is one of my two favorite trolls in anime. Only Joseph Joestar beats him.

Here's a little of his fights, some spoilers:

Started watching that new Dragonball show. Meh. Is it just a serialization of the last movie? Feels bad, and it is bad. And what's up with that horrible music?

Didn't Dragon ball die in the 90s?

I've seen the first 3 or so episodes of it but I haven't seen the movie. From what I gather though it most certainly looks as if that's the case.

The animation is really good imo though, I like it.

There's a new one since July, 11 episodes out. "Dragonball Super". So far it just seems like a serialized version of the last movie that came out though, and is very subpar unfortunately, seems to be lacking all of the charm the old DB had, despite it being Toriyama again.

Yeah it's a pretty good series, I saw the movie on Netflix too and liked it even though it does skim on quite a few details.

The last two movies are canon, unlike how shounen movies tend to not be. So they have to rehash it for the series since its important.

Also Toei gonna Toei and cheap out on the animation and shit.

Doesn't feel canon at all though, it feels disconnected and the feeling of the show has been totally lost imo.

Luffy refuses. saying that being the pirate king isn't being a great man, but being free. saw that coming from a mile away.
