Legislation allowing this was passed in 2012.

Its one of those Obama era scandels that never happened.

Its unfortunate, but good. The sooner this type of behavior is exercised and struck down, the better.

There's something amusing about people like McConnell and other Republicans saying Franken should resign while their party sends money to elect a child molester.

Just like the Dubya's torture program was exercised and struck down, right?

Soo...

To be clear, you are saying the big break is being exclusively reported on by a media company under a year old, in which the smoking gun is facebook posts on the account of the man who was escorted out of his office with a bag over his head for suspected treason.

In Russia...

A man working for the GRU/FSB... And...And you think, if this were true, he'd live to testify in the Russian courts?

And this fresh new start up company just "happens" to fall into this scoop.

Sure.

You go ahead and flip that coin.

It's not a "big break." We've known about this for a long time now. Some of you have just been in denial.
He testified about this back in August, but that's not a public record over in Russia it would seem. Do you think he faked the minutes and audio recording or something?

In other news, people are being turned away from the polls in Alabama for being mysteriously purged from voter rolls again.
https://thinkprogress.org/alabamians...-50ddc1b53b3a/
And an Alabama court has made a last-minute decision to allow the destruction of voting records to prevent a recount.

Did you guys know that Alabama's republican secretary of state went to Russia last year to observe elections?

Wouldn't surprise me if the turning point where Russia starts taking credit happens before too much longer. Just like with Crimea, their general strategy is to deny, deny, deny and then a while after the fact say "LOL WE FOOLED YOU, IT WAS US ALL ALONG!"
That or you're right and this guy just drastically shortened his lifespan. Or it could be a Russian red herring. We'll see how it goes.

So how do we get the UN to oversee our elections? There's very clearly a lot of fuckery going on.

Reports of voter suppression in AL continue to flood in.

Do you have a problem with the UN exposing the voter suppression tactics of conservatives?

AP and other sources are calling it.

By an incredibly slim margin due to standard rapepublican cheat tactics, the good guys won. Yay!
Jones is the first D Senator from Alabama in 20 years. Senate is now split 51-49.

Looking at this slave map of the South and how much each state depended on forced labor for their economy, it's not hard to see why places like Alabama are so impoverished.

Please note that I'm not saying that it should go back to slavery, I'm just trying to be a smarmy little cunthole, too.

EDIT: Well, that's at least one ephebophile that's out of the Senate. For now.

Now aren't you glad Trump was the Republican nominee to win last year?

Maybe soon, both parties will run actual candidates instead of the 2016 epic joke. We can hope.

EDIT: I like this line from CNN:

Quote:
The lesson: Even in a state as red as Alabama, you can't nominate a massively flawed candidate and just expect the partisanship of the electorate to deliver a win for you. Particularly when the other side nominated a credible alternative.

The fact that this Roy Moore-guy, after it being pretty obvious he's a longtime creep and borderline pedophile, still got support from colleagues (and from the goddamn president himself) in any way, shape, or form, is harrowing. Fuck this toxic partisan bullshit. If your party is more important to you than upholding a bare minimum standards of decency, you're a disgrace of a human being.

Good thing the voters didn't have their heads up their asses. There is hope still.

Is there? Over 60 percent of college-educated white women and over 80 percent of college-educated white men supported Moore. On the whole, white people in Alabama did have their heads up their asses. Doug Jones was elected through the support of black voters (over 95 percent!) despite repeated attempts in Alabama to disenfranchise them.

But that sounds like hope to me... Doesn't it?

I don't care what colour of people get their heads out of their asses and start voting responsibly, as long as someone does it.

Not sure if you're intending to imply that Doug Jones only won because of Moore's crack about how "family was closest when we had slaves."

I doubt he was.

But if you look at those percentages and your mind goes in that direction, then maybe the numbers themselves imply that?

That is not my intent. I have no idea why people voted for the person they did. I'm only looking at a simplistic demographic breakdown of the results.

Also, so why gerrymandering matters...

WaPo also has a good article that discusses how Republicans racially-gerrymandered the Alabama congressional map in 2010.

Has there been any proof what-so-ever on those charges? As someone who kinda ignored the Roy Moore thing due to other stuff going on, last I heard some lady had a yearbook or something...

Cuz, same with Trump (or any of the shit going on in movieland), accusations shouldnt be enough, even in court of public opinion.

Again, as someone really not paying attention, I cant really remember any posts or ads on what Jones was about, just how bad moore was.

I mean, Moores constant harping of god and shit should invalidate him from holding office period, far as im concerned, but still...

Whilst not concrete proof, would thinly veiled admissions of guilt count?

He's said that he generally did not date women that young (so he did occasionally?), but he doesn't dispute the claims that he might've (stating he doesn't remember).

Oh, and for the record he always asked the girl's mother for permission to date her beforehand. Again, not really solid proof, but creepy and weird as fuck for someone in their 30's to do.

It was just the genuinely creepy way he went out of his way of basically saying "I did it, but it was ok the way I did".

On top of all the ways his base also tried to back him up and justify it was just mind numbing and disgusting.

Casting doubt.

Piggybacking on that doubt to further throw support for Trump and cast doubt on Trump's accusers.

And a disclaimer in case someone calls his bullshit.

There is a lot of evidence, including some open local secrets such as Moore being banned from malls due to his lecherous behavior around teenage women, that certainly would give weight to the claims of Moore's accusers.
