Yeah, but it's about the best explanation we have. Blizzard have never really bothered to clarify what it actually is.

And since both of you mentioned it, What even is voodoo (besides that we should come get it)? Is it just the troll word for magic, or what?
In addition to what's already been mentioned, we know from the original Zul'Gurub that the techniques associated with voodoo were copied by the High Elves in order to create weapon and armor enchantments, so that's probably our best indication of how voodoo was originally used and/or designed.

This came up in an rp, but how effective is fighting demons with Fel? Obviously the light is the most effective, but does it hurt as much as an undead being hit with it?

Hm, that's something I've wondered, too. We see the Demon Hunters utilizing fel magics to great effect, so it's not impossible to say that it's at least partially harmful. Perhaps it relates to The Last Guardian's idea of intent in magic: In order for a Warlock to effectively harm a Demon, he would have to have a great willpower behind his spellwork.

Intelligence to construct the spell's framework, willpower to let the energies through it; and hopefully not catapult a caster's brains out instead.
