I think Blizzard is not serious enough with death.

1) Too many resurrections, death should be treated seriously.

2) Not enough important character death for quite a while, and those remaining character just got abandoned after the main focus is switched, especially WotLK.

The problem isn't how Blizzard depicts death scenes, but how they portray the murderers. Remember the scene, where Krom'gar bombed Thal'darah Grove? When Garrosh punished him? I thought that this experience would have a major impact on Garroshs morale in the future, but then Theramore happened.

That was so stupid of Blizzard. Garrosh got bent out of shape about a druid school being nuked (never mind that the Moonglade was one of the areas of Kalimdor on the target list for being conquered, as well as the rest of the entire continent). So he throws the general off the edge of the cliff after a speech about how bad and dishonorable it is to kill children. Then mere months later, he arcane nukes Theramore off the map, has the children refugee ship captured and taken to Org so he can torture and force the mothers to fight gladiator style because their children will be killed if they don't fight.

I seriously had to scratch my head over that one.

There was never a person named Garrosh Hellscream. It was just dreadlords, always dreadlords. A dreadlord tricked Grom and his mate into thinking there was a baby. Time passes. Different dreadlords took "shifts" in the Garrosh outfit, and each had a different perspective.

Warlords of Draenor has no Garrosh, because the dreadlords decided to do something else on that one day a bunch of them got bored while watching stuff happen on Draenor.

And demons never die, or something; they just pretend to.

Reusing characters who have died is dandy if:

A: There are serious drawbacks to reviving them.

B. The revived characters are forever changed.

C. This is Sliders or another series that seriously look into alternate worlds and their histories.

Necromancy sort of covers this and elementals aren't really people. It's the demons that are the issue.

Varian being revived by Anduin was the worst.

Blizzard portrays death however the company wants to portray death, even if it means contradicting what is know to be true in regards to World of Warcraft and essentially "lying".

Metzen: Let's make necromancy a school of (or from) arcane magic and let's make arcane magic (a necromantic magic) come from the Twisting Nether because the nether world is considered the world of the dead in most, if not all, fantasy settings. Let's also trick people into believing that warlocks aren't necromancers and that necromancers are magi.

Sean Copeland: Demonic power (or warlock magics) would be a necromantic power that comes from the Twisting Nether because demons and the demonic powers they contain come from the Nether. I'll just lie to someone when he - or she - asks if perhaps warlocks are harnessing their power from the Nether and state, "No, that'd be magi..." I'll also claim that demons aren't the source of the demonic fel magic.

Chris Metzen: Excellent, but if your diabolical plan to convince necrophotic that warlocks aren't necromancers fails I want you, Justin Parker, to make the most outrageous claim on my behalf. I want you to claim that.....warlocks can practice necromancy without being necromancers and that warlocks pursue a different discipline.

Justin Parker: But what happens if I receive backlash for claiming that warlocks pursue a different discipline? The warlocks' discipline is demonic and the two main sources of demonic power are demons and the place they come from (the Twisting Nether), but Sean Copeland is going to claim that warlocks don't harness their power from the ..

Chris Metzen: Silence whelp. Blizzard's not paying you to be consistent, reliable, and trustworthy. In fact, I'll retcon the souls of the dead existing in the Twisting Nether to existing in my new creation: the Shadowlands. Now my loyal clients can have something new to speculate about while I reap their money as if I'm death itself.

Justin and Sean: Ahhhhhhh *gawks*

Orb of Lightning

necrophotic is a pretty funny guy. As far as I'm concerned, he's earned a special place in our collection, right up there with Galdus and Slowpoke.
