Yeah. Some people did get permission to build costumes before the game was released. I can't remember if it was blizz employees building and wearing the costumes or someone paid professional cosplayers to wear/model them, or some combination of all the above.

This game is admittedly fun. Reaper is my hero, but that is because I love shotguns.

I'm also in the beta. It's extremely fun and very fast, so fast I could see an argument that matches are over too quickly. I personally like the speed as it is, I can get a ton on games in within an hour, which is satisfying. All of the heroes feel very different and well designed.

Bad stuff; I've got some sort of memory leak. The longer I play the greater the drop in frame rate until it crashes. Which is sad since it initially runs so smoothly.

The tutorial is sort of a joke and best avoided unless you really want to supper through the basics of using a keyboard and mouse.

So I had a couple of old highschool friends over and by sheer coincidence I found out we were all in the overwatch beta and they had brought their laptops. I've gotta say I haven't had a LAN party in far, far too long. This game is great when you can shout at each other within the same room.

Also ffs hanzo sucks

EDIT: AS an aside, all characters for launch have been announced at this point, but do you think we've seen all of the maps?

Additional maps before launch might be possible, but I think there's a solid outstanding question of how many ways Team 4 can iterate on control points vs. payload vs. payload hybrid. I get the rationale as to why they don't think a CTF mode would be good (typical response I hear is "everyone plays tracer") but it still seems weird to not have it in an FPS.

This teaser is used in cinema theaters as a commercial shown prior to the new Star Wars movie.

With the rocket going off, I guess that means the story has progressed to the point where Winston has completed his plan to re-form Overwatch?

What would the rocket have to do with that?

I wouldn't assume there's any story advancement, this is Blizz after all

We'll find out in a month or two that something poorly explained or seeded has happened when the story does advance

The rocket is from Watchpoint: Gibraltar. If you get the push the cart version of the map, you start in Winston's laboratory, where on chalk boards his plan is written out: launch the satellite, use satellite to re-activate Overwatch computer network, recruit all former Overwatch members, restore Overwatch.

At the same time, the wide shot at the end shows all 21 characters in the game. Metzen and Chu have said that not every character's story is necessarily going to intersect with Overwatch as an organization, which I understand to mean that not every character is necessarily going to be united with Winston in the new organization.

Given what we know about Reaper's backstory and relationship with 76, and the contention between Hanzo and Genji, it makes a lot more sense for them to not be on the same team.

The trailer was probably to make Overwatch seem cool and wanting to show every character in it with a cool shot and not some deeper meaning or story advancement.

Wouldn't it be pretty weird to advance the story before ita even out?

Has it ever even been stated how long Overwatch has been shut down for.

Because it seems to be like a decade or two apparently but Tracer is 26 and it's implied she was a part of the original Overwatch.

Implying Blizz would keep track of a timeline.

With Tracer in particular it might actually be deliberate. Her teleportation powers and the device that keeps her anchored in the present time are both temporal in nature, so her experience of time may differ sufficiently from the rest of the world that while years or even a couple of decades could pass around her she's literally still only 26.

Kids always make the best soldiers and heroes in fictional universes. I'm willing to bet soldier 69 is eternally salty.

So the new patch is kinda awesome. A play Vs AI mode is something I like- sometimes I don't feel like being competitive. The skins all look great, and wear the game's MOBA influence on its sleeve. Really a fan of the balance changes to torbjorn and bastion.

Bit torn on the skins. While they look great, some of them are a bit immersion breaking for me...

As in, some skins are non-overwatch universe (e.g.: Valkyrie on Mercy), and so the world seems a bit less coherent. Bigger fan of the in-universe skins like the Origins ones.

(yeah, I know that there can be multiples of heroes )

Oh well, in the end I probably shouldn't take it too serious.

Gambler Mcree, Valkyrie Mercy and Safari Winston are definitely my top 3.
