That sounds fun. Like something I wouldn't want to skip.

"Do you know what I am going to do to you, Orgrim Doomhammer?"

"Tell me."

"First, I am going to rip open your mind and lobotomize you, to the extent that you will function on the same level as a beast of burden. Then I shall ride you like a domesticated talbuk, into battle against the Alliance. Then, in the glory of our victory, I shall vaporize your body and soul."

Gul'dan turned to face the crowd that had formed around him and the warchief.

"And then, using the new powers I now wield, we shall CONQUER the vermin of this world, rape its bounty, and make use of it as we will! And not just this land... my new knowledge has revealed to me vast, fertile lands beyond the sea! New worlds beyond this dimension! All to be seized and ravaged at our leisure, until nothing is left but the SUFFERING OF CHAOS AND EMPTINESS OF OBLIVION!"

That last part didn't sound quite right, in Gul'dan's head. Oblivion? No, something had to be left behind--so that he himself could live and thrive.

It sure got the Burning Blade orcs excited, though. Say. Were they red-colored before now?

"CHA-OS, OBLIVION! CHA-OS, OBLIVION! CHA-OS, OBLIVION!"

Doomhammer stole another quick glance to Varok Saurfang, who inclined his head reassuringly. The warchief then turned back and strode toward Gul'dan.

"Over my dead body."

"That's the idea. I've been looking forward to this for a long time."

"I'm sure you have."

With a lunge, Orgrim swung the Doomhammer so that it collided with the side of Gul'dan's face, cracking his skull. The warlock crumpled to the ground lifelessly.

Your life and adventure end here.

Thumbs down

Gul'dan regained consciousness, rubbing his temple as it throbbed. "Ugh. What... what happened?"

"Impossible! What sorcery is this?"

"What sorcer... sorcersorc..." Gul'dan babbled as the cobwebs cleared. "Death comes for you, Orgrim Doomhammer!"

The warlock snatched the Jeweled Scepter and the Shadow Orb from where they had fallen and pointed the Jewel toward Orgrim's head. Gul'dan's body could feel the energies pulsing... the Orb crying and singing, bathing the Jewel in preternatural bloodlust... the Eye within his head swelling outward, its presence cleaving into the Jewel and directing it toward the warchief with an unrivaled focus... the Jewel itself, carried by its peers, spearing outward to envelop and unmake the object of flesh before it, which the mortal planes knew as Orgrim Doomhammer.

Except... why wasn't it doing anything? Why couldn't... why couldn't it find him?

That was when Gul'dan saw it. Just dangling there, from Orgrim's neck.

Gul'dan gasped dramatically. "A necklace of spell immunity?! Where did you fi--"

This time the Doomhammer impacted with Gul'dan's ribcage, sending him to the ground unable to breath. He never saw the follow-up strike, which came downward and removed most evidence of his upper body.

Your life and adventure end here.

"FOOL! I AM GUL'DAN! I AM DARKNESS INCARNATE!"

"Again, Gul'dan?"

But this time Gul'dan rushed forward, catching Orgrim's arm before the Doomhammer could come down. The warlock reached into his cloak and withdrew that magical dagger, powerful enough to make a daemon bleed.

Orgrim grabbed Gul'dan by the face and hair and turned sharply, snapping his neck.

Your life and adventure end here.

Doomhammer was deep in conversation with an ogre-mage, a death knight, and a couple of troll priests.

"...that it's an item on his person?"

"Almost certainly."
"Almost certainly."

"It would be somethin' small but powerful. Able ta harvest the essence of a soul."

"Soulstones achieve his effect. Search for a series of small pouches near his waist."

"He's moving again."

"Hmpf." Orgrim reached his arms in the air behind him, so that the Doomhammer would have maximum momentum when he swung it forward.

Your life and adventure end here.

"Good morning."

This time, instead of killing Gul'dan outright, Orgrim used three quick strikes to shatter both of the warlock's kneecaps and his right shoulder. Then, spinning the Doomhammer upside-down, Orgrim used the blade to rip an opening across Gul'dan's stomach.

"AAAHHHHHH!"

"Place the five remaining soulstones on that boulder, and you can destroy them in one fell swoop."

"Don't you mean one fel swoop? Eh?"

"Ha ha ha!"

"Ha ha ha!"

"Yes, that's very clever! But hurry, before he bleeds out. No need to have him resurrect again."

"Right."

Stacking Gul'dan's five remaining soulstones on a rock, Orgrim Doomhammer prepared to strike downward and crush them. Surely that would keep pesky Gul'dan from reanimating again.

As he lay in an agonized heap, Gul'dan's mind flashed with images of Medivh's ignoble death. The dark demonic presence in his mind went into a panic, as if it were searching desperately for a new host to cling to before it was too late.

But, if nothing else, at least Doomhammer was distracted. For now.

That necklace seems to keep Orgrim immune from your magicks. Maybe... maybe you could target something different? His weapon? The earth? The elements of the air? Maybe you could lift Blackrock Mountain itself, and crash it into the warchief?

These wounds are so painful... maybe a bystander orc from the crowd can be harvested and consumed, to regain your strength and gain one more fighting chance? Or maybe the bystanders themselves could be manipulated, particularly the Burning Blade clansmen whom you had managed to excite a moment ago?

You know, you could probably kill yourself again really quickly--before Doomhammer can wreck your last soulstones. That would at least restore your body one more time. Hmm... maybe you could even make yourself explode, violently?

Maybe it's time to make a timely exit, through teleportation magic?

ONLY COWARDS FLEE! UNLEASH THE FULL, PHYSICAL AND ELEMENTAL MIGHT OF SARGERAS! WATCH THE DEVASTATION UNFURL BEFORE YOU!

Can we make up options that aren't there? Because I think "teleport in Deathwing mid-fire-breath" (ala Androl's volcanic Gateway mastery from WoT) is due here.

Start a riot, steal a soul, and then see if you can't teleport inside of him or something. Or maybe "drop the hammer" onto his own head? Or...

My ideas stink.

Was totally going to conclude this on Monday or Tuesday. Death of Gul'dan. Parley between Doomhammer and Lothar, with Gul'dan's head and Garona in chains. Early unofficial ceasefire. Way paved for peace between Alliance and Horde forever. Ominous epilogue with Sargeras reincarnated in Kil'jaeden as the true champion of the three worlds. Fin. Project completed.

Cannot do so now, because Kir is alive. Glad to see you still alive, Kir!

So yeah, I was so not expecting that I didn't know what to comment.
As much as I wanted to see Gul'Dan go beat the shit out of everyone on Azeroth, if you got a good ending right now I wouldn't mind him dying.

However, I'd say he has a chance if he let lose the burning blade now and Maim and/or Rend take the opportunity to backstab Doomhammer. I would like that better :p .

First, eat another orc's soul to rejuvenate yourself.

Then, compress all matter within a sphere of two-meter radius centered on Dooomhammer's center of mass into a sphere of two-millimeter radius. Not only will this seriously fuck him up, the vacuum will make a nice thunderclap when the surrounding atmosphere rushes in.

I do most of my writing at work, during downtimes. But there haven't been any downtimes recently; we've got stuff happening.

So let's bring this to a close. One more input from you, and I'll wrap it all up next time:

Name me a book, movie, video game, board game, or other such story which our ending should get inspiration from.

Final location: Blackrock Spire, the Dark Portal, Mt. Hyjal, Northrend, the Twisting Nether, or other?

How well will the ending turn out for Gul'dan? Pretty sweet, or not so nice?

1) Babylon 5: Mind War (S1E6). Or Treasure Planet. Or the book of Daniel in the Bible. Or Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Or the book of Moroni in the Book of Mormon.
Or roll some dice on your favorite show for Season/Episode. Sky's the limit, really.
2) Northrend (just wanna mess with you. I think Twisting Nether could be a good alternative).
3) I mean, is this supposed to be an Alternate timeline? Somehow I thought you were trying to write something that meshed 'perfectly' with the actual storyline, so that it's sort of like a tongue-in-cheek "Behind the Gul'dan" sub-story to the overall Wc2 storyline. If not... "Not so Sweet". I'm a sucker for tragic endings.

Some of the stuff. But a lot of it is incompatible with the current canon (e.g. the Blackrock fleet coming after Gul'dan; Gul'dan actually leaving the tomb and going to Blackrock Spire.)

There's still stuff going on at work for at least another week. Just forget about this thread for a while, and then the end will suddenly pop up.

Really? I just figured you'd find some freakish or tidy way to wrap all that up. Like, everyone thinks he died, but in reality he left & just died in some time-bending manner which made everyone [i]think[i] it was earlier.

Or summat. I'll let the writer do the writing. xD
