In The Sundering page in page 186 there are references to a bunch of ancients that were never really explored, could you give any clarity into these ancients and their names?(list yoinked from wowwiki)
-Wolverine guardian (Goldrinn?)
-Tiny red fox
-Winged panther
-Pixies
-Reptilian warrior (Tortolla?)
-Male oak figures with hoods.
-A stick bug race.
-A bearded warrior half the height of a night elf and clad in brown leather fought during the War of the Ancients. He rode atop a pair of white wolves using a rein in one hand. In his other hand, he held a weapon resembling a sickle — which he would throw like a boomerang. The sickle would rip through the demons as it spun and return to the hand of the squat warrior. He was a foe on par with any that the demons had ever faced.

Furbolg Tribes and the alliance

Quote:

The Furbolg tribes of Blackwood, Thistlefur and Stillpine are helped by alliance members, while the Foulweald are almost destroyed by the horde, while the Timbermaw are neutral, will the support by the alliance and hostility by the horde make the Furbolg race more alliance leaning?

Sp00ky

Quote:

-We have seen that the forsaken have been given Galen Trollbane as a quest giver (of the Trol'kalar questchain) - and that so far Stromgarde seems to have changed very little.
Will we see any progress on the alliance side towards reclaiming Stromgarde?

Reyson

Quote:

-I'll like to know what ever happened to the unknown emperor of the still-living nerubians and where they live now, with their territory being taken over by the scourge and faceless ones?
Quote:

-Will we get more information as to how certain new class/race combinations came to be, other than 'they were always there' or 'they just learned it'?

Quote:

-Why were the Dragonmaw called Dragonmaw back in Draenor, there weren't any dragons there? The first time they ever saw a dragon was on Azeroth.

Exxile87
Quote:

-By allowing several races have both shamans and druids (trolls, tauren, worgen) whether playable or only a few NPCs, are we to assume there is some link between shamanism and druidism that hasn't been fully explored?

Gurtogg_Bloodboil
Quote:

-Considering that trolls are said to be able to regenerate their limbs, why didn’t Zul’jin’s arm grow back?
Quote:

-If the entity Aegywnn fought in Northrend was the Avatar of Sargeras, does that mean that Sargeras’ real body is still out there somewhere in the nether, separated from his spirit? Or is that avatar she buried on Azeroth his real body, just reduced in power?
Quote:

-Can you explain the “family” habits of dragons? Are they incestuous as some speculate? Do only the Aspects get mates? Is Alexstraza actually also Korialstrasz’s mother?
Orc Skin
Quote:

Why do orcs like the Blackrock and Dragonmaw have unique skin colors? Is it due to ethnicity, exposure to ash, or something else?
Quote:

-Can you elaborate more on the “red mist” from the “Unbroken” story? Was it a weapon of the Legion? What exactly did it do to the Draenei to cause them to be unable to wield the Light? Would it work on other races?

Genesis
Quote:

-What is the timeline of events for the summoning of the worgen, the death of Velinde, the death of Arugal, the resurrection of Arugal, and the movement of the Scythe of Elune from Felwood to Duskwood to Grizzly Hills to Gilneas?
Quote:

-Gilnean human druids are referred to as "keepers of the old ways." Do human druids descend from druidic vrykul of titans such as Eonar or Freya?
Quote:

-Of what material were the vrykul made prior to the Curse of Flesh? Did they have earthen, stone, or metallic bodies?
Quote:

-The earthen shaped the earth. The mechagnomes maintained the machines of the titans. What purpose did the vrykul serve the titans?

Urth

Quote:

-What is the nature of the "blue skin" on various Vrykul and the Frostborn? It seems as though the blueness followed the Curse of Flesh, as though it was a secondary mutation. What's odd is that the Frostborn seems a tribe unto its own, the blue Vrykul females of Storm Peaks are fanatically loyal to the Watcher Thorim, and the blue Vrykul men and women of Icecrown and Skadi are loyal to the Lich King. If the mutation was the result of a specific interaction, I would assume such behavior would be more uniform. Perhaps there's a LOT more story there?

Monsund

Quote:

-Why does Thrall appoint Gallywix as leader after he enslaved the goblins and tried to kill him.
Quote:

-Will Vol'jin recruit more troll tribes?
--i altered the question because it's more interesting this way

Quote:

-Will Vol'jin free Zalazane's mind slaves especially considering they're said to most make up most of the Darkspear tribe?
Quote:

-What happened to Mangletooth?

Ku'ja

Quote:

-Syvlanas can now create Forsaken via the Val'kyr that she gained from the Lich Kings defeat are those that are transformed under her control or do they have free will like the majority of the Forsaken ?

Saranus

Quote:

-Where has Jarod Shadowsong been all this time? Hasn't Maiev or Shandris been wondering about him? Druids have an excuse, with all that napping, to go MIA for extended periods of time, but not famous generals.

Lon-ami

Quote:

-Is Aessina the matron of the dryads? If so, does she have any relationship with Cenarius? sister? mate?
Quote:

-Is the duty of the Earthwarder (Neltharion/Deawthing) to watch over the Elemental Plane, much like the duty of the Dreamer (Ysera) is to watch over the Emerald Dream? was Deathwing, then, the jailer of the Elemental Plane before his corruption make him forgot about his duty?
Quote:

-Are the Giants of Draenor, whose bodies were used to build the Temples of the Damned, just another name for the Gronn? The orcish word for "Giant of Draenor" is Grom, maybe Grom and Gronn are just the same?
Quote:

-During the Civil War in the Plaguelands at W3:TFT, we defeated a lich under the command of Balnazzar, named Morbent Fell. In World of Warcraft we met a necromancer at Duskwood by a identical name, Morbent Fel. Are they the same person? We already saw lichs reverting to human form when we defeated Ras Frostwhisper at Scholomance, could Morbent have followed the same process? With Cataclysm, Morbent Fel becomes a lich, could this confirm the theory? If they are the same person, does he still serve the Burning Legion?
Quote:

-How did Kazzak manage to reopen the Dark Portal? Did Prince Malchezaar find some clues as to how Medivh opened it in the first place by searching answers at Karazhan? What happened with the Glaive of the Aspects, whose shards were seek by the Highlord Kruul during the TBC world event? We know it was reforged successfully by Kazzak after the reopening, but we don't hear about it ever again, did it had any role on the reopening?
Quote:

-What are the Dark Riders? Could they be a special generation of Second War death knights created by the Burning Legion agents? What's their link to Morbent Fel and the Burning Legion forces at Karazhan and Blasted Lands?
Quote:

-What happened with the book of Medivh? We know that, at the end of Beyond the Dark Portal, Khadgar sent it back to Dalaran together with the Skull of Gul'dan and the Eye of Dalaran. During the Third War Kel'Thuzad stole it to summon Archimonde, but after that, where did it go? Did the Burning Legion keep it and later use it to reopen the Dark Portal? Also, can we presume Tichondrius stole the Skull of Gul'dan from Dalaran during that same battle, to later carry it to Felwood?
Quote:

-In the first batch of questions, you explained the origin of the Obsidian Desroyers, by saying they were enslaved Tol'vir. Were they Tol'vir that the qiraji captured, or were they created by the qiraji themselves using stolen titan technology? Could that explain why they are so radically different in appearance? Would that mean the Anubisaths were created using stolen titan technology, too?
Quote:

-What happened with the Ata'mal crystal? Are all the shards currenly in draenei hands? Could the crystal the Ashbringer was created form be one of the shards? If not, what's it exactly? Could we get to know about both crystal's fate via archeology?
Quote:

-Where's Twilight Lord D'Sak? He was the author of all the texts hold by the Twilight Hammer at Silithus, and seemed a pretty important member of the cult, will he appear at Cataclysm?

Quote:

-What happened with Tharbek? You told us Varok Saurfang was the second in command of Orgrim Doomhammer, but the novel Tides of Darkness gives Tharbek that position. Could you clarify this? Also, what clan was Varok from? Blackrock and Bleeding Hollow are the most logic answers, but anything is possible.

Dwarf Subraces

Quote:

We know each of the 3 clans is composed by an unique subrace. Wildhammers are taller and stronger than their Bronzebeard cousins, while Dark Irons have a dark skin. We've seen different naming conventions:

-Bronzebeard clan: Ironforge dwarf, Mountain dwarf
-Wildhammer clan: Wildhammer dwarf, Wild dwarf, Hill dwarf
-Dark Iron clan: Dark Iron dwarf

My question is, which are the accurate descriptions for each subrace? I think Bronzebeards are "mountain", because Muradin is called like that by the Frostborn, but the other 2 are still pretty ambiguous.

Orc's black skin and Dragonmaw activity at Twilight Highlands

Quote:

Orcs living around Blackrock mountain seem to have been affected by the environment, much like the Dark Iron dwarves, and have developed a black skin. Before Cataclysm, the only known Dragonmaw activity was a minor group at Wetlands, and they had green yellowish skin. Zuluhed, at Outland, showed the same skin color, too.

But now, the Dragonmaws at Twilight Highlands show black skin, too. So, the volcanic environment isn't responsible for the black skin, or the Dragonmaw at Twilight Highlands were part of the Dark Horde, and fled to the zone not so long ago?

Quote:

-Will we see more about Draenor's past? Archeology could be a great excuse to do so. Some things that were left unanswered:
--Old orc clans: Bladewind, Lightining's Blade, Redwalker and Whiteclaw
--The Ata'mal Crystal: 5/7 shards missing: Brilliant Star, Leafshadow, Fortune's Smile, Eye of the Storm and Shield of the Naaru.
--Some pivotal place, like Telmor and Deathwing's Lair are missing from Outland. Where they destroyed?
Quote:

-What's the relationship between the more elemental-like mountain giants and the more titanic-like stone/storm/fire/sea/iron giants? Are they 2 different types of "species"?
Quote:

-In Cataclysm we know Morbent Fel turns into a lich. It's been long speculated he is the same as Morbent Fell, having turned into human after being defeated (like Ras Frostwhisper). Are they related? Morbent Fell worked for the Burning Legion, so it could explain his true loyalty.
Quote:

-What are the Dark Riders? This is probably going to be addressed at Alliance comic or Cataclysm, but in case it's not going to, it would be nice to know what their true nature is about. Are they a separate generation of second war death knights, created by the Burning Legion before the Lich King created his own?

Quote:

-What happened with the Glaive of the Aspects? Highlord Kruul assaulted Azeroth in the pre-TBC event searching its shards, and finally Kazzak managed to rebuild the glaive. It's even mentioned in it's page at the official site, but we haven't heard from the weapon ever again, and it doesn't appear in-game.
Quote:

-What happened with Felo'melorn, Flamestrike, the blade of the Sunstrider family? We last saw it at the battle between Illidari and Scourge at Icecrown, and it hasn't ever appeared in-game. Was it send to Silvermoon after the battle, and is now wield by Lor'Themar?
Quote:

-What happened with Vandermar Village? It's the first stage of the W3:RoC undead campaign. Did it turn into Deathknell?
Quote:

-During W3:TFT undead campaign, we confronted a "Forgotten One", deep in Azjol-Nerub. It hasn't been mentioned in-game again, and the novelization of the events utterly ignored it. What happened with it? Was it a tendril of Yogg-Saron, a manifestation of his power? What could be it?
Quote:

-What is the origin of the crystal the Ashbringer was formed from? Many speculate it could be the shard of a dead naaru, that turned back to the light once it was purified by Alexandros and friends. Is it the shard of a naaru? Also, could it be one of the shards of the Ata'mal crystal?
Quote:

-What happened with the port of Nendis? It's the first stage of the W3:TFT night elf campaign. Geographically, it should be located north of Azshara. Could it be somewhere along the coast of Winterspring?
Quote:

-In The Last Guardian, an unknown peninsula at the south is mentioned: Ulmat Thondr. It's rumored to have jungle troll activity, so could we say this place is the same as Stranglethorn Vale?
Quote:

-What happened with Cycle of Hatred's Lorena and her crew? there were a lot of named soldiers, privates and colonels at that novel, and none of them has ever appeared in-game.
Quote:

-What happened with Greenrush River? this river started in the center of Lake Abasi at Zul'Aman, and flew into Darrowmere Lake. It's probably the same as Thondroril River, but there's no river going out of Quel'Thalas that could connect both places.
Quote:

-I would like to know what happened exactly after the Sundering. Before it, we had an unique continent, and after it, many different pieces of landmass. What happened exactly? the landmass between the current continents sank, or only the are surrounding the Well of Eternity sank, meaning that the current continents are a result of plate tectonics movement? (think of Pangea and how it evolved into the current world, but at higher speed) The second option is the one that makes more sense, imo. Pushing the central landmass down makes the surrounding landmass move away, while the water level rises from the sinking of the central part. It's basic geology, but I don't know if it would work in a world of magic.
Quote:

-This could be answered during Cataclysm, but I would like to know Deathwing's relationship with the Elemental Plane. Is he the "guardian" of that realm, the same way Ysera watches over the Emerald Dream? Was Neltharion charged with the task of being the "jailer" of the elementals?

Quote:

-What's the relationship between the Bloodfyres and Ner'zhul, the chieftain of their clan? Were the members of this family the seconds in command and the strong arm of Ner'zhul? They appear at Legends vol. 2, in Family Values. Also, will Leena, the draenei girl in that same story that becomes a shaman, appear in-game as part of the Earthen Ring?
Quote:

-Will we see the wild dwarf and high elf characters of Legends' two part story Warrior: Divided and Warrior: United around Hinterlands? You know, Kardan, Keers, Mastran, Mozza, Ravic, Voldana... and finally the 2 human twins that are protagonist to both stories.
Quote:

-The 3 human protagonists of Legends' story Bloodsail Buccaneer were pretty good and had a lot of potential in different professions. Will they make an appearance in-game?
Quote:

-Was Pandaria a part of Old Kalimdor before the Sundering?
Quote:

-Is there any possibility for the original city of the aqir (the one they had before being defeated and splitting into Azjol-Nerub and Ahn'Qiraj) to appear around in-game some day? If it's not around the known world, could it be at Pandaria?
Quote:

-What did the aqir look like before splitting into Azjol-Nerub and Ahn'Qiraj and adapting into their new environments? Had they humanoid shape, like the Twin Emperors?

Gortrash

Quote:

-Will we ever get to revisit Azjol-Nerub and see the zone and its lore fully fleshed out?
Quote:

-Is Ner'zhul really dead? (I have to try!)
Quote:

-Just how big exactly are the tol'vir?

Quote:

Will any explanation be given in-game as to what happens with Timbermaw Hold in Azshara come Cataclysm? Or did a keep that big just vanish?

Quote:

Quote:

Do you do everything your woman tells you to do? Varian says himself in issue 13, he thought the Stonemason’s fees were excessive but he also though the amount offered by the nobles was too… ahem… “niggardly.”

What is the timeline of events for the summoning of the worgen, the death of Velinde, the death of Arugal, the resurrection of Arugal, and the movement of the Scythe of Elune from Felwood to Duskwood to Grizzly Hills to Gilneas?

Gilnean human druids are referred to as "keepers of the old ways." Do human druids descend from druidic vrykul of titans such as Eonar or Freya?

Of what material were the vrykul made prior to the Curse of Flesh? Did they have earthen, stone, or metallic bodies?

The earthen shaped the earth. The mechagnomes maintained the machines of the titans. What purpose did the vrykul serve the titans?

You should look in to the history of feudal lords funding things. The king doesn't always just get to reach in to their wallet, especially without consequences.

Seems kinda pointless to do a topic like this until they make a topic asking for more answers. They said more answers are coming but it's very possible they meant more answers from the first batch.

What is the nature of the "blue skin" on various Vrykul and the Frostborn? It seems as though the blueness followed the Curse of Flesh, as though it was a secondary mutation. What's odd is that the Frostborn seems a tribe unto its own, the blue Vrykul females of Storm Peaks are fanatically loyal to the Watcher Thorim, and the blue Vrykul men and women of Icecrown and Skadi are loyal to the Lich King. If the mutation was the result of a specific interaction, I would assume such behavior would be more uniform. Perhaps there's a LOT more story there?

2) If the entity Aegywnn fought in Northrend was the Avatar of Sargeras, does that mean that Sargeras’ real body is still out there somewhere in the nether, separated from his spirit? Or is that avatar she buried on Azeroth his real body, just reduced in power?

3) Can you explain the “family” habits of dragons? Are they incestuous as some speculate? Do only the Aspects get mates? Is Alexstraza actually also Korialstrasz’s mother?

4) Can you elaborate more on the “red mist” from the “Unbroken” story? Was it a weapon of the Legion? What exactly did it do to the Draenei to cause them to be unable to wield the Light? Would it work on other races”

1) The wound was cauterised, they showed it in the Zul'Aman video.

Why does Thrall appoint Gallywix as leader after he enslaved the goblins and tried to kill him.

*Will Vol'jin recruit more jungle troll tribes

*Will Vol'jin free Zalazane's mind slaves especially considering they're said to most make up most of the Darkspear tribe?

*What happened to Mangletooth?

Guys, remember what they said in the answers to the ask CDev question?

"Most of your questions fell into one of four categories:

1. Questions that will be answered by soon-to-be-released published content (such as the upcoming novel The Shattering by Christie Golden)
2. Questions that will be answered by soon-to-be-released game content (patches 3.3.5 and 3.9.0, as well as the Cataclysm expansion)
3. Questions that can't be answered at this time without thoroughly spoiling future game and published content
4. Questions that we can answer now, if only partially

Using your questions (verbatim!) from category #4, the CDev team has been meeting with Chris Metzen and Alex Afrasiabi to nail down answers that we can share with you now. So get your secret decoder rings ready, kids! Here comes the first set of answers! "

Stop asking shit about Cataclysm, upcoming content, or books. Ask shit that would never have a chance to be explained otherwise, to increase your chances of actually getting an answer.

The "blue skin" is an adaptation to cold I would think.

Not only that, but...

First set. As in there will be more from the ones we've already asked. So I'd say you should only post questions here if you didn't ask them in the first one

Ku'ja 07-03-2010 08:51 PM

1. Syvlanas can now create Forsaken via the Val'kyr that she gained from the Lich Kings defeat are those that are transformed under her control or do they have free will like the majority of the Forsaken ?

Hopefully this question will give us more insight even if they say they cannot answer and you will have to wait and see :P

You’d think that would be intuitive, but it just doesn’t seem to be the case.

They absolutely did not show that in the video.

That's not what the dev answer said, read it again here.

"and she was the most adamant supporter of paying the Stonemasons' Guild the initially agreed-upon sum. "

It doesn't say she was a big supporter of paying the Stonemason's whatever the hell they wanted, just a big supporter of the initially agreed-upon sum. Apparently, Stormwind, or at least Varian and the Stonemason's had a number they were okay with, just a deal wasn't finalized since Varian had to run off protecting his land and to track Garona. He ended up leaving everything in the hands of his "trusted" council which was spearheaded by Lady Katrana. When he came back, he notes that while the council was trying to lowball the Stonemason's like hell, the Stonemason's price was really jacked up.

Plus, it's obvious Stormwind isn't an absolute monarchy. The King's power is somewhat checked by the house of nobles in a constitutional and/or parliamentary system.

Saranus 07-03-2010 09:52 PM

Where has Jarod Shadowsong been all this time? Hasn't Maiev or Shandris been wondering about him? Druids have an excuse, with all that napping, to go MIA for extended periods of time, but not famous generals.
