Infact, the courts of the Inquisition were some of the best courts in Europe for the time and had lower degrees of torture and higher standards of evidence. If you had to go to court in Europe pray that it was under the Inquisition for while the Inquisition went after heretics it was far superior to the courts of the king.
Does that mean it was good? Hell no, it was still a Mideival court that used torture to get confessions but it's not actually as horrible as people think.
