I found the picture of the female Elementalist to be pretty awesome, but I can't get the image out of my head of a female Norn Guardian... Kinda like a Valkyrie.

Okay, so after checking out the info linked in this thread I am so totally going to give this game a shot. One thing I noticed is the way they're doing support classes, which is to say that their support abilities are active applications of force on the battlefield just in a way beyond direct damage attacks. Considering my class in WoW has been totally buggered by Blizzard's version of a support class (ie: "gimped healer"), it really highlights the difference in gameplay.

I will say that I love their art style. The concept are for the game is just awesome from what I've seen.

From what I've seen the environments are just amazing. I dearly hope the cities look as good in game as they do in the screenshots.

I know, I love it. But seriously, reading about this game actually makes me a bit angry, because the game I'm currently playing and paying for seems downright regressive by comparison.

I cancelled my subscription ages ago. It was a six-month recurring so it lasted until mid July, but I really got bored playing WoW by mid-June. I don't think I'll be investing in a Pay to Play game for quite some time, which is definitely why Guild Wars 2 is starting to appeal to me.

Also looking forward to Diablo 3, but GW2 just has more.

Thanks for the video! An excellent watch so far. I have to say, the city feels overwhelming in size and scope though. That's not quite a positive comment either, as I find when a game has a super huge, massive city, I will often try to avoid it for the sake of retaining my limited sanity.

Yes, but I'm quite certain that, at some point, I'll have to venture into that much larger city in order to craft goods, buy and sell stuff from vendors, come across event breadcrumb trails, etc... A city that size will take hours to get acclimated with.

You know... this may be a super newb move, but hell, we all start somewhere...


I've been reading up on the Wiki all day and, so far, I haven't seen a thing about guilds or guild-like organizations players can make and be a part of... Is there a reason for that, such as it hasn't been released yet or are guilds more akin to a pre-made in-game faction or something?

I don't know much either, but there is a short snippet on Guilds on the Wiki.

Their cities are all massive since they wanted to capture the fact that they are the main bastions of the races.

Isn't Lion's Arch neutral and open to all races, rather than belonging to any specific one? I understand from the lore it once was a very prominent human city, but that it isn't anymore.

Yea I think it's neutral now as it was re-built.
