Did you see the dashboard last time they had it running? It's only tangentially related to that. They mostly just track a ton of twitter accounts that they've managed to link to Russian propagandists one way or another and show what narrative they're pushing via hashtags.

The only non-harassment (eg, phone calls) results I've seen from doxxing is people losing their job. Turns out businesses have "free association" and can fire people for being white supremacist and making the brand look bad.
Unless maybe you're talking about that youtube channel where they'd torture their kids and eventually got them taken away? I dunno.
Oh, I guess you could also count those guys who went around stalking Shia LeBouf and repeatedly stealing his personal property.

I'm honestly not aware of any pre-imageboard doxxing. I was there ~15 years ago during the /i/nsurgency.

Seems to me that this is just the pendulum finally swinging back the other way. For decades, linking or even implying someone may be associated with socialism or communism was enough to sink their careers and ostracize them. Not to mention direct suppression and oppression like COINTELPRO.
I don't know. I have a hard time having sympathy for people getting fired because they want to murder me.

Thanks, try again. Even Daily Mail admits it. Looks like she made multiple accounts and kept harassing this person. Depending on the content of the messages, that's illegal here, too (at least in some states).

Link the full remarks. She's accused of using two accounts, not she did, and not targeted harrassment, during the course of a single debate. Targeted Harassment is ongoing.

That being said, daily mail is terrible. But Ive seen other articles in regards to this, but this was the easiest one. Including one from said victim who pointed out it was police, not her, who took action.

The trans lady involved has spoken about it. Pointed out that its not over being misgendered and she didnt follow on charges. Later in the article is a quote from the police saying it is for hate speech and shes under investigation..

Which means, under their own power, they decided to investigate. Apply for paperwork to check accounts and IPs (since part of the claim is multiple accounts), seizure of property, detention, human rights abuse via denying her sanitary products, all on their own.

Said transwoman is upset at Mail indicating she had something to do with it.

It's really not, but I can forgive people for thinking it is. But despite most of the issues, I agree that millennials aren't actually a problem. Every generation is the worst generation.

1.) His point about showing random social media instead of actual examples is because, frankly, and I don't expect people on the left to understand this, you get mobbed, attacked, banned, and deplatformed for providing those examples on places like YouTube.

You get accused of targeted harassment, and even if you "don't" harass them, you get in trouble for having your followers harass them, even if you have nothing to do with it. Even if there's nobody harassing them. It's claimed you are harassing them, and action is taken.

You can see current examples with whats going on during the whole Kickvic youtube scene.

2.) I mean, the video maker used a crappy comparison with his crappy coffee analogy. Stock footage of a protest doesn't mean that protest is being talked about.

3.) The video is glossing over current social movements influencing existing institutions, and seems to count the millennials as existing in a vacuum.

There are multiple other points in there that make his view somewhat skewed...

But really, that's the entire point that's being, rather constantly, reinforced.

The Left and the Right are more and more living in different worlds, with exposure to different content, different views, and soon, even different economies.

Like, there have been a rash of Right Wing people having their bank accounts shut down for no reason. Some of the high profile ones might have shown up on every day news sites... Others fly completely under the radar for most on the left. The left doesn't get to read the stories of peoples lives and businesses being ruined internationally because other people harass and threaten business associates. That Mastercard is threatening platforms to remove users.

Similar things happen on the other side. Stuff the right never sees, that the left is upset about.

Actually, I just had a really good example of that with Kak the other week about people being arrested over misgendering.

Not only is the story about it mostly from right wing sources, it's very biased to what actually happened.. .But hold on, it's never even mentioned by left wing sites despite being fairly big news on the other side... unless you do some digging. Then, if you are lucky, you might find the UK LGBT focused news site that has an interview with the trans woman who featured that article.

And you know, I said a long time ago on this site. Both sides are important. There isn't a side that is right or wrong. Impartiality, no matter what the subject is. It doesn't matter if it's Nazi's vs Nuns. Both sides of the story.

That idea is dead. It's not going to come back unless you support people who go out and look for those multiple articles and sources and talk to everyone involved.

But no, we aren't going to learn anything, and the media is going to keep being terrible, and we are going to keep frog marching ourselves into the social credit dystopia that China is currently enjoying because the world has gone insane.


Also, not really the right thread, but I do find it hilarious that CNN is ALREADY working with parts of the DNC to cheat Bernie Sanders again. Gonna be a fun election cycle.

1. This whole bit about how you 'don't expect people on the left to understand' would work better if you gave -linked- some examples. Since I'm not familiar with how the whole 'vic mignona is a creeper' thing is playing out.

2. He addresses that in video though, he points out if things were really so ubiquitous he could find a protest that fit rather than using clips of other protests unrelated to what was being used to criticize millenials with.

3. I mean, his point was mostly to counter the other guy's video, if the other guy didn't bring up social movements he had no reason to. Besides, every generation's had movements like that which half the country thinks are bad.
