I think it was episode 5 with Ad?lie that finally got me (though episode 4 with the zombies certainly helped too). Like, it had laughs, but it also had that sort of pulling of the heartstrings that Watanabe can be so good at.

Also damn if that opening song isn't catchy.
So only the first episode was meh? I should have continued watching...

I thought you liked Space Dandy. I've seen two episodes, it hasn't drawn me in at all.

It took a while to get going, I felt. Up until episode 4, it was more or less something a friend and I watched to snark on in between other shows (as I recall, Bleach and...whatever else it was that Adult Swim was airing at the time. We do this every Saturday, watch the shows, snark, and hatewatch Sword Art Online. Its fun, in a masochistic way), but episode 4 started to turn us around and 5 was what really solidified it for the two of us. 5 had humor but it was also a more emotional one. It felt kind of like an "anchor" episode, as I think it (if you've seen Cowboy Bebop, think Ballad of Fallen Angels (which, amusingly, was also episode 5 of its own series)).

Episode 1 is indeed meh and the show really picks up starting with 4 and 5.

Again on the Continuity: The lack of makes the Zombie episode so great. While other series would try to come up with a solution to the zombie outbreak, Space Dandy goes into the direct opposite coz it don?t care for no logic son. It switches its tone and fully commits to the idea of a zombie society and explores as much as it can of it while not wasting any minutes on a cure.

Like Metzen could learn from it: Time-Travel hijinks in a different dimension with no consequences for the MU? THAN GO FOR BROKE AND FULLY COMMIT.

Let me tell you the signs of addiction. It's when you update a page at least 20 times a day depending on if you're at work or not, jut to see if they've translated another chapter.

Bleach question for the latest chapter: Just to make sure, that was Mayuri's way of saying that he views Nemu as more of a daughter, right? Just a real roundabout, Mayuri-esque way of saying it?

It's similar but there's a lot more action and politics, Spice and Wolf has better character interaction though.

I had heard a bit about the politics angle. Does seem a bit interesting but the show couldn't hold me. I may return to it at some point, but I've got a lot of other stuff to work through at the moment (still slowly making my way through NagiAsu)

Yeah, I quite enjoyed the dub. They all worked quite well I felt (though to be fair, Dandy's Japaense VA, Junichi Suwabe, is pretty damn awesome, but maybe its because I always think of him as Archer from Fate/Stay Night...)

Mayuri's sword is based on this Buddhist monk/deity who guards the souls of dead children. Fans have this theory that Mayuri lost a child and that's why he made Nemu. Then again, Mayuri could just be too lazy to make and teach an 8th Nemu.

Btw, just finished Watanabe's other new show - Terror in Resonance.

I dont know what to think of it. On the one side it is kinda nice and has a real good ending and some great characters that even though they are very clich? they still work immensly well. But at times the Anime is a slog, the pacing and editing isnt very good and sometimes the characters are plain annoying.
Also it seemed like i have already watched the show because so much of it seemed to be similar to other manga/anime works. It wasnt an outright copy of something specific but it borrowed so much from so many different stuff that it seemed more like a collage than a true original story. Like a Bastard Child between the Works of Naoki Urasawa, Death Note and Akira. I enjoyed the ending very much but overall i won't rate this highly.

Why does it have to be the moral admiral?

Probably because he's trying to capture/kill him.

The match has to end in a draw and Fujitora just might be the only admiral satisfied such an ending.
