To be honest, the comic con trailer was much, much, much better.

This one was cool, in an arsty fartsy look at all this smoke and jumping kind of way.. But it really lacked the "oomph" of the first one.

Which is why it shouldn't be treated as an animal, like the American film did.

For all intents and purposes, it's a fairy-tale dragon put into modern decorations.

My favorite one was Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. I always cheered on Godzilla when he fought other monsters, instead of humans - the filmmakers knew that to all kids the GIANT ATOMIC BREATH DRAGON would be the main character.

Again, the American movie focused on Nick, and Zilla played an antagonistic role (along with the raptor-esque hatchlings), and ended up being killed... for being a scared animal.

But the cartoon about Zilla Jr. was great! They even got the significance of breathing awesomness!

Yeah, I'm willing to forgive the horrible movie because of how awesome that cartoon was.

I still don't get why they felt the need to retcon a movie NOBODY liked (except me, as it seems) into the existing Godzilla-universe. It's not like ALL japanese films are so much better than the american one. At the very least they had the decensy to not touch established canon - until, again, the Japanese fuck that part up.
