As for Omacrons job: I'm jelly. No really, its pretty awesome that its everything you wanted it to be. So many game programmers end up claiming they hate the job because of how hard the publishers push for progress, its relieving to hear that they're not all like that.
Well, I'm not a programmer, and what I'm doing is far more subjective. Beyond that, I kinda think the first week was a wash since I didn't get working on the Starcraft wiki until Friday. They've pretty much told me "get done what you can get done in your three months" but I'm gonna push myself to try getting all the characters done and start work on the next part of the wiki.

I meant to type developer, rather then programmer. Regardless though, now I think about it, said developer dissatisfaction might only be from EA and Activision. Interesting how Blizzard (at least at our starting level) really doesn't seem to be managed the same way as Activision.

I'm not insulting him. I'm just teasing him.

Someone remembers me? Oh, god. I'll need to sit here and process this for a minute.

No, the anxiety usually kicks in a few minutes after I've said something unfortunate.

I get the impression that because Blizz is such a cash cow Activision gives them a lot of leeway. "Don't fix what aint broke", plus the thing is I get the impression that Blizz has always had a corporate culture that's even more relaxed than other game devs since its inception, and I point to the picture of Metzen in disturbingly tiny shorts as evidence.

Have you actually gotten to meet Metzen yet in any capacity? And if so, do you think that rubbing Chet would imperil your future at the company?

Somehow, I'm not surprised at all.

In an unrelated note, since you started to work at Blizzard I'm having very weird dreams with Metzen. Nothing fucked up really, but strange in the sense of WTF is he doing in my dreams.

I haven't yet, but he's moving to an office closer to CDev publishing so I'm sure I will eventually. I have run into Kosak a few times, though. And sat at a table next to Tom Chilton.

Even Kosak, although I feel his interpretation of the Forsaken is wrong and could use some serious work.

That's rather good to know. Sometimes I think you come across as more personally hostile than you actually are.

I've met him a few times.

That's Curll to his left and Warlock to my right.

No, that's Warlock. I'm the guy with the hair who Metzen has his arm around.

He smells like steel and lilacs, for your information.

I've got to admit, Seeing the videos of Metzen at Blizzcon pretty much made me forget the previous few months' issues, and replaced them with "Omg, I <3 Metzen" until Patch 4.3 lore came out. I'd say that guy's got charisma, even if a few weeks later you want to slap him across the face. Meeting him in person would be kinda too awesome.

GC on the other hand...

Awww, be nice to GC. I hear Greg is a really awesome guy in real life.

Glad to hear you're having fun, Oma. Christ knows my own engineering internship is like slowly driving a serrated railroad spike into my eye socket. The nice thing about an internship though is that you get to have a little taste of everything, and usually get to sit in on a lot of stuff you really wouldn't have much business doing in a full time position.

Now keep posting so we may live vicariously through you lest my burning jealously bring my limited arsenal and deer-hunting capabilities down on you and yours.

Sounds like fun! Glad your enjoying yourself. Personally I'd probably prefer one of the programming jobs, but I just like programming for a living.

As for Fojar and wanting to work there, you'd need to have something that would make you stand out enough that they would be willing to go through the work visa process for you.

Metzen kind of looks like he's gone all shifty eyes and is whistling to himself.

Kinda like he's going, 'come on folks, check out the hot bitch I just pulled.'

Metzen looks a bit like Hugh Laurie in that pic.

Wait... Blizzard's editting the fan Starcraft-wiki? Or are they creating a new one for internal use?

Does that mean that they have a Lore Bible? Do they have a timeline of the games and novels?
