I know that so far I've simply used the Starbound thread to post Terraria related stuff, but I think that it deserves its own thread, even if it's only used by me to post images.

Let me start by posting a spoiler and posing a question.

I've got something like 100+ hours played on Terraria according to Steam. I love it. But it sort of feels like it fell out of one's memory when the Starbound beta came out. I haven't played Terraria in a year or something like that.

I've played at it for a few hours now but I haven't got that deep into it yet. I've made a base and done some exploration and everything, but I've reached this sort of ceiling where I don't know what to build or how to make them next. A spear is my best weapon and iron my best ore AFAIR. Prefer Minecraft mostly, but should give Terraria another chance eventually.

You need to fight bosses. You should probably start with the Eye of Cthulhu. Get six lenses from the little eyes, go to a Demon Altar or Crimson Altar (depending on your world) and craft a Suspicious Looking Eye, which can be used to summon him during nighttime.

You should probably also build and arena and gather herbs, to get yourself some potions.

The potion crafting station is made not through the crafting menu, but by placing a flask on a table. I completely missed that. Also, bottles of water ARE made through the crafting menu while standing in water, unlike the bucket of water which is filled by using the bucket.

Yeah, I like this game.

Never got to playing it, even though I liked it from the videos I saw.
I'm more the creative builder kind of guy, I fear the jump&run/RPG/fighting part of the game would over time be to much of a hassle for me.

Just enter and leave a mushroom biome a few times, use a Hunter Potion, and tackle it while swinging the bug net. Using some kind of speed increasing method or falling directly on top of it both work.

I freakin' love this game. Haven't had the time to play it in... weeks? But I greatly look forward to returning.

I think one of my favorite parts is just how much it taps into my 'inner child'. It's like "hey, you wanna run around & break things? Go ahead. You decide to dig? Straight down, for no particular reason? Fire away! You wanna kill monsters or make a castle or create an arena or surf lava or climb a tower of dirt into a cloud city to find a star-shooting sword while fighting harpies and then own zombies in the face?
Sure, I guess."

It's just HUGE and amazingly-creative. There's almost literally nothing that can't be done (sometimes, it feels like). Perhaps when I was younger, I would've been more ambitious or self-assured in my ability to 'make grand things' like I see all over the Internet (or even here, *cough* Ashendant *cough*)... Nowadays I'm much more insecure... But as long as I avoid the Internet, I still feel like doing cool stuff.

It's just wondrous. It's the kind of game I look forward to letting my kids sink time into.
