I thought I might want to have elaborate on what it is. Internet Relay Chat. As Aneurism said, it was the shit back when we all used modems and what not. It's more or less a chat room.

The IRC would provide second-to-second basis for chatting and immedient feedback rather than post, refresh, etc. but won't replace the forums or anything. I'd imagine it as like a get together on a weekly basis or whatever to have a more streamlined conversation.

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat and is used to send real time messages to multiple people at once.

You should get an IRC client or use qwebirc to connect. You just need to pick a nick (your name on the forum probably).
