How he even got the impression he was a competent leader in the first place is mind boggling, pretty much all the quests in Nagrand were going on about what a failure and toolbag he was. He went from emo failure to roid rage failure to zomg oldgods failure in a handful of years.

Yeah. I'm not really certain what else people are expecting out of him.

Blatant nepotism and bias, 'cause Garrosh's dad was Thrall's best friend and "brother". Thrall at first made Garrosh skyrocket to commanding the Warsong Offensive of Northrend (despite their being a higher-ranked commander around), then, despite all odds, thought him "fine" fir the leader. Also, the masses liked Garrosh or something.

I'm sure all the other Horde overlords and chieftains would like to be promoted to warchief too, but, you know... It's Gary, you can't just ignore him.

I'm personally imagining Orgrimmar to end up like Post WWII Berlin. Half of the city will have Alliance footmen as the guards and be occupied by the Alliance, the other half will be filled with Troll guards.

The Horde is a military. There might be noncombatants living in it, farmers, miners, brewers, weavers, but ultimately it's a war machine. Thrall might hold peace and coexistence as an ideal, but ultimately he was still acting as the Warchief of a military organization and I think that's why he chose Garrosh, because for all the big ogre's failings he has an undeniable talent for fighting. Metzen once joked that Garrosh's inner monologue amounts to "kill, kill, kill," and it's true, Garrosh suffers from a crippling lack of vision beyond that focus (hence his utter failure at handling or even comprehending anything outside of military matters), but in that narrow focus he is damn good at what he does, which is, in fact, killing. Admittedly we never saw any of that in Nagrand, so your point holds up there, as well as others' about nepotism, but I can see how Thrall came to trust him for greater tasks later on.

Thing is, Garrosh never really gets portrayed as being competent at leading a military either. Sure, he is good at fighting, but he is awful at strategy (see his warsong hold appearance, where he thinks supply routes are for pussies), does not know how to deal with spies (see the intro for the twilight highlands, where he orders the escort away from his transports, despite it just having been revealed that the horde had a high-ranking traitor who no doubt told the twilight's hammer about the planned invasion) and is incapable of performing any degree of diplomacy.

Despite really, really liking MoP, I don't expect the siege to have a well-written ending. Thing is, every WoW expansion thusfar has had a terrible ending. TBC had the nonsensical rejuvenation of the sunwell, and the horde being completely absent from the invasion of one of its members. WotLK had "there must always be a lich king", and skipped the assault on Icecrown Citadel that the expansion had been building up to. And Cata had that terribly, nonsensical epilogue.

"How do you expect SoO to end?"

With crippling disappointment, and a great deal of complaints on the forums.

Here is how I would have it end but it won't:

It's all in a cinematic:

After Garrosh is wounded/disabled, he, along with the remaining Alliance/Horde leaders are brought out to Grommash Hold so that everyone can see what is happening. Varian demands that Garrosh must be killed as an example to the rest of the Horde as to what happens when you lead your people into war. Jaina wants Garrosh’s head so she can hang it in the ruins of Theremore. But Thrall tells them that he cannot turn Garrosh over to them. He blames himself for putting the wrong ideas into Garrosh’s head and that he must take full responsibility. Jaina tells him that Garrosh must die and if Thrall stands in her way, she will remove him by force. Then other Horde leaders pick up their weapons as the Alliance leaders raise theirs.

Suddenly a loud shaking rumble begins and boulders and dust begin to fall around them and the people look around as the sky suddenly darkens with black clouds with green lightning flickering about. Jaina orders Thrall to stop it as Thrall tells Jaina to stop it, then several giant green balls fall from the sky slamming into the crowds, throwing bodies into the air as fel giants appear. Then swarms of demons begin to appear through the clouds and descend on top the crowd, their screams rising up in the air as a giant shadow begins to appear followed by even more rumbling and shaking. The stuned Alliance/Horde leaders look up as a giant wave appears over Orgimmar. Swimming in it can be seen the dark shapes of naga and floating above it all is Azshara herself, holding Neptulon’s trident above her head a look of pure malice and triumph across her serptine features.

And then her voice booms around them: “I have returned to take back what is mine!”

I think part of that is inconsistency of portrayal. He generally acts a whole lot smarter out of game than in. That said: he's not necessarily very good at strategy, like I said: he lacks vision. He is really good at actually conducting battles and everything outside that scope is beyond his interest and understanding. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying Thrall was in the right for putting Garrosh in charge of anything, but I do think it fits with the general orcish mindset to look at a guy whose name is attached to a bunch of glorious battles and think "hey, he's a good leader!"

And yes, I have talked to the bronze dragon. Theramore is phased back to its destroyed state after I log out.

The Alliance's three rules on faction conflict:
1) You can't win.
2) You can't break even.
3) You can't leave the game.

To be honest, that is no where near as stupid as what he was talking about. And popping into the ruins isn't a stupid thing anyway, in my opinion.

My option is not on the poll, but I'll detail it as follows:

The cinematic will show Varian striding out of whatever structure Garrosh was holed up in raising Garrosh's head for the world to see and start giving a victory speach, in which he is certainly not exactly appreciative of the rebel horde combatants. He starts listing off demands for the Horde's surrender (Alliance guards in Orgrimmar, immediate withdrawal from Lordaeron and Ashenvale, etc.). Then Vol'jin puts an arrow in Varian's back and tells the rest of the Alliance leaders that he and his people will live free or die, but they will never submit to such terms. He tells the rest of the Alliance leaders that they can leave the city now and take their fallen King, or they can watch Varian be raised by the Val'kyr.

With significant objections from multiple alliance leaders, the Alliance withdraws.

I expect a lot of Alliance bitching on the story forums. That, and the Alliance just walking away after the siege.

Do you also predict trouble in the Middle-East? Death? Taxes?

Seriously though, we're probably going to see the Alliance skipping town, hopefully having had some exposition before the raid to make sense of the decision. Not that it'd stymie the whining any, but we should have insight into the rhyme or reason of the faction's actions.

That would be pretty interesting, eventhough it seems kinda rough!

I can't say if it was a serious comment, but I could see it happening if there was a way to contain the SHITSTORM it would create by Alliance players.

EDIT: Also first post hai xD

For some reason, the Alliance leaving Orgrimmar peacefully reminds me of when Thrall left Durnholde.
