Undead Icon (War3) Popular Demand: The Fate of Sylvanas

Given that this expansion could have been named "World of Warcraft: Metric Shitload of Fanservice" at one point, I think knowing the fan demand may end up warping some of Blizzard's plans regarding characters, like what happened with Garrosh.

So, do you want Sylvanas active, deceased or don't care at all? (poll)

I don't care. No matter the option, the Alliance will have to pay it anyway and we won't have Gilneas in both case.

Gilneas should go alliance and the Forsaken should move.

I'm willing to bet than the next time we see Gilneas (if ever) it will be to see it fall once and for all to the Forsakens.

I am somewhere between don't care and let her die, kinda like I am about lore in general these days

I think Sylvanas is a toxic presence in the Forsaken story. They could be so much more if she wasn't pigeonholing them into villains and on top of it all she doesn't give a crap about them. Any redemption is likely to be flimsy and hackneyed.

Orb of Lightning

I want her dead, but that description on the expansion site makes me think she'll probably get some bullshit redemption by randomly choosing to value her people over her soul.

Much like Grom, she'll help out in defeating the Legion invasion and then Genn will stand by her side to the adoring cheers of the masses.

Personally though, I want her dead for reals.

By this point, it barely matters anymore when we look at the big picture, but I still want her to live. I still enjoy redemption stories, and since Jaina appears to be going down the tubes rapidly, let's not destroy the last remaining major female character?

what I want: don't care
what most players want: well she is the #1 waifu for most players and a favorite character among most of the horde who are the majority of the playerbase and I'm sure some of the alliance loves her to
what will happen:

In retrospective, Sylvanas apparently caring about the Forsaken enough (if we understood the site right) and the meatshield/arrows mentality does kinda make sense in a convulted way, since she had that mentality for the Thalassians too, and she clearly cared about them too.

She did? When she was alive and Ranger General of Quel'thalas, she thought of the Thalassians as meatshield and arrows?

This could be intriguing. What's the source/context?

Arrows yes. Meatshield no. And well, it was the Thalassians soldiers to be exact. She all about "dying for the cause"

Quote:
Another memory flooded her senses. Now she crouched behind an outcropping of smooth stone in Eversong Woods. The autumnal foliage rustled above her, masking the sound of her companion's footsteps as he dashed forward and then fell into hiding beside her." There are so many!" he barked, falling silent as she raised a finger. "We have only two dozen rangers up there," he said, his voice now a whisper. "They cannot survive that!" Sylvanas didn't turn her gaze away from the dark mass of shambling
corpses crushing its way closer to the river ford. It was the height of the Third War, and hours away from Silvermoon's fall at the hands of Arthas's army.

"They merely need to delay them as we fortify the Sunwell's defense," she answered, her tone measured.

"They will die!"

"They are arrows in the quiver," Sylvanas said. "They must be spent if we are to win this."

She was brash. Empty? No—a fighter. She had a warrior's heart

Still better than wanting to kill your own sister, so she can be your little undead friend forrrrever.

I find it understandable, if crazy.

Shadow Orb

I hope she'll be eaten by Worgen Genn and that we'll never hear about her again.

But most probably we'll get bullshit redemption for Sylvanas and yet Jaina will be killed.

"They are arrows in the quiver," Sylvanas said. "They must be spent if we are to win this."
So she's either needlessly wasteful with lives, or she wasn't a very good commander.

Because hasn't Blizzard told us that Silvermoon only fell because of that one elf who betrayed the Sunwell? And that the Scourge had no hope of taking Silvermoon if that betrayal hadn't happened? Without the betrayal they could have all safely hidden behind the Sunwell's power, and with that betrayal nothing they could have done would have saved their capital.

So the death of those two dozen rangers was pointless. Maybe if they hadn't been spent so early, they could have participated in a rearguard action as the surviving elves retreated after Silvermoon's inevitable betrayal-based fall.

EDIT: Of course, I'm mainly making fun of the "WE WOULD'VE WON IF NOT FOR BETRAAAAYAL!" mentality that plagues the Warcraft universe throughout its entire history.

WCIII geographics regarding the Sunwell and Silvermoon are too inconsistent to determine whether Sylvanas died protecting Silvermoon, Sunwell, or none of themm altogether.
