Orb of Venom

I also like down-on-her-luck-Korra anonymously frequenting seedy fight clubs. I can taste her delicious self-loathing.

Because my god it's grating.

I like it. I do wish Milo would grow up to be a mute, though.

Red Lotus were better protagonists then Korra and her crew ever were. Getting the same vibes off of Kuvira as well.

I feel like the Asian parallels are more apt. Earth Kingdom is China, Fire Nation is Japan. Fire Nation invades and conquers a bunch of Earth Kingdom territory. Fire Nation gets defeated, several years later Earth Nation undergoes rapid cultural change (along with rapid industrialization/mechanization) and deposes its hereditary monarchy for an authoritarian military ruler.

but then we'd be going by the 2nd Sino-Japanese war..and the parallel gets more confusing.

A better comparison may be the War of the 3rd(?) Coalition. Or was it 4th? Where Napoleon gets his shit kicked in, a new order is established in Europe but it begins to fall apart. Especially in 1848.

nd then all hell breaks loose inbetween 1918 and 1922

Well, obviously it's not a 1:1 ratio of historical accuracy. More of a thematic parallel. The fact that the Air Nomads so strongly resemble the Tibetans kind of screws it up too.

So did Nickolodian take off all the seasons to watch online? Only 4 episodes of season 3 and the first of season 4 is up now.

I watched the Season 4 premiere, and gotta say go Kuvira. Unite the Earth Kingdom under your banner. I enjoyed seeing that one of the bandits Kuvira rehabilitated was the one that robbed the air benders just without his beard, which forced the Earth Kingdom state to sign under Kuvira.

Episode 2:
I like what I'm seeing so far. The Avatar down and under, neck deep in the mud. Meeting Toph when she needs a guide the most. This has much potential.

They're really teasing Korasami. Also, Toph calling Korra twinkletoes makes the world okay.

Orb of Venom

Kuvira strikes me as a pretty basic warlord, but Varric - he's got his eyes on the horizon. Progress! At any cost!

Did anyone catch that the spirit root/battery thing shown at the end? There were rows and rows of them in the background in one shot of the Book 4 trailer.

I wonder if there's a connection between these devices and the fact that Toph can use the roots to see all over the world? I also saw a crazy theory that Varrick got airbending during Harmonic Convergence but is saving it for a clutch moment. 99.9% not gonna happen, got my god it would be amazing.

By the by, is Zahir dead? I didn't watch the Season 2 finale, but even if Unalok's still alive, at least 5 out of 7 Korra antagonists have ended up dead.

Which is weird. Nobody died in TLA, and although in my opinion all of Korra's antagonists, excepting Unalok, have been much more likable than the Firelord or Azula, each has met a more violent end than either of the latter.
