Default As a Dwarf player why would I want to fight alongside the humans?

I mean, they're arses.

Breach sovereignty and threaten rulers, heirs and people.

Give sacred relics meant to symbolise friendship to bullmen.

No acknowledgement of dwarves carrying them through every conflict post Third War.

Take dwarf technology and smithing for granted.

Because they buy your stuff. If Dragonlance has taught me anything about dwarves, it's that when you go "sod off!" to the surface and refuse to have anything to do with them for decades, all of those blacksmiths and engineers eventually run out of shit to do, leading to rampant poverty and rising tensions.

Plus they can reach things on the high shelf and block bullets aimed at your face with their legs, thus making them invaluable as shields.

Oh, and something something unity and camaraderie.

B-but dwarves in Warcraft don't live exclusively underground. They have plenty of above ground holdings, more than most other races in fact.

True, the Dwarves of WoW are more like if Bruenor Battlehammer's desire to rediscover ancient dwarven kingdoms and murder everything that disagreed manifested through the entire race. But they do still need the humans to buy stuff and absorb bullets.

Because... they taught dwarves religion.

...

actually you make a point, why do you need them, they taught dwarves about christianity *cough* sorry, the 'church of light', probably held you back in development for 200 years.

For saving them in the Second War.

Also there's no need to acknowledge them as having carried humans through every conflict since the Third War since that's no mention of that anywhere.

I'd say the Light is more akin to buddism than christianity.

And the Dwarves are a stalwart and loyal people, who even stuck by Garithos. A people whose best known qualities are their endurance, stalwartness and dedication to allies are probably naturally inclined to weather the storm and stick by their friends.

Because Varian-senpai is my High King and Anduin is so wise for his age so of course I'd defer to his wisdom.

See avatar.

Dwarves are the children of Earth.

Earth is firm. Earth is unmoving. Earth is loyal. Earth is unshakable. Not even Garithos can shake the Children of Earth.

Because it's better than joining up with #savage assholes.

Besides, Varian and Anduin will die in about 100 years, 150 tops.

The Alliance's three rules on faction conflict:
1) You can't win.
2) You can't break even.
3) You can't leave the game.

If by "Carry the Humans through conflicts" you mean "Get an army stuck in Alterac Valley for five years and then sit on your ass as Humans and the Night Elves carry you through Outland, Northrend, and the Cataclysm", then yes.

The Dwarves only got off their duff when they got shamed by the Dark Irons into action.

Humans made up the majority of soldiers through out pretty much every campaign and war, and every technology you vaunt has now been proven to be made by a Gnome first. (Steam Tank prototype - Gelbin. Gyrocopters - Gnomes via Warcraft 2.)

Get back to the sidelines where you belong, sidekicks!

And all it takes is a tactically calculated "for the Horde" rallying the troops to make them all think "OMG she really does care!"

I'd like to know what the Dwarven religion was like before the human missionaries came.

Because Humans make up and always have made up the bulk of Alliance forces, and also, because the Human-Dwarf Friendship is the closest friendship ever. They're the best of buddies.

In fact, I think that a more proper question would have been-as a dwarf, would you not want to fight alongside the Humans? All because of an apparent breach of sovereignty in order to act against a ruler who no one really wanted?

People did stuff like that in real life all the time, and still do, and in comparison to what people in real life do, Varian's actions weren't particularly bad.

Not in Vanilla. It was apparent that Ironforge were the Alliance's poster boys albeit not shoved in our faces nearly as much as Humans are now. Then I assume Blizzard noticed how popular Humans are and how much easier it is to write humans and just rolled with that after TBC.

That's because the Human race was in a horrible state at that time, with their king gone, most kingdoms destroyed, and Stormwind being ruled by Onyxia. But things have stabilized now, and also, for most of the Alliance's history, Humans have always been the most important race, and really, I see no reason why a Dwarf would have any grievance with Humanity.

Awww. No, Dwarves and elves have always got along as long as they were allied, plus we see a (traitorous) Dwarf Ambassador in Eversong. Suggests a reasonable amount of friendship.

I am a firm supporter of Dwarf-Elf political relationship.
