Medivh (Speculation) Bonds of Fate

Medivh says: Enough sentiment! Hear these words before I depart. It may be simpler to shut a door than to pass through it. But sometimes a step into the unknown is required to break the bonds of fate. There is much that lies ahead for all of us. Farewell.

I will try to make this short: what if Azeroth is destined to become Sargeras?

Nozdormu was or still is destined to become Murozond because of his timeless characteristic; being able to constantly travel through time, he can make himself able to exist in all times.

The Burning Legion is said to be infinite and to exist in all realities and timelines. Seems to be some "timeless" characteristics if you ask me.

Sargeras is a titan who became a demon, therefore accomplishing timelessness and infinity. That's the starting point: if you are the cunning lord of the Burning Legion, master of the universe, why wouldn't you go to the past and make sure you attain your powerups as soon as possible?

In a nutshell, Azeroth initially fights the Void Lords and then despairs before their corruption of reality and utter destruction of existence. Then Azeroth realizes the need of a greater power, and seeks demonic timelessness to make sure it can defeat the Void.

Then travels back in time, with another identity, joining the titanic pantheon as their strongest warrior: Sargeras.

That easily explains why both are mentioned as being the most powerful of the titans, as well as Sargeras' obsession with Azeroth.

i'd love that, but not sure blizzard is willing to:
1) make a twist that big, involving altering two very distinct and iconic lore figures' core identity (could alienate a lot of people)
2) do another story development founded on time travel seeing how badly the previous one was received (wod)

but on the other hand, blizz usually does what they think is best and they've both shown to ignore player opinions at times, and overly go out of their way to appael to the community on other occasions

so the question that remains is if they've planned something along the way of your idea for the azeroth / sarg / void twist, or not (cuz i am sure they ARE planning something, but im not certain it being very clever, unlike your idea, which would be a very good twist, and would also involve a still living and completely unaware pantheon in our current time maybe)

The guy has been trying for millennia to destroy Azeroth, specifically because of the threat the Void Lords represent, and because he wholeheartedly believes that scouring the universe is the only way to correct the underlying flaw.

I don't think Azeroth is Sargeras.

But you can make the parallel between Sargeras and Illidan, and Sargeras tried to take illidan's body...

Sargeras saw a threat > became what he fought to end this threat.

Illidan saw a threat > Became what he fought to end this threat.

Illidan got a " special soul " and , according to X'era, his fate was decided during the forging of the universe, and he's part of a cycle.

Why does Sargeras want Illidan's body when there are tons of other's body available ... Ask yourself this to begin with, and we may be onto something .

Moreover, Illidan got an " Immortal " soul. If the soul is Immortal, where did it come from? Maybe a previous life where his previous body was destroyed, with a loss of memories? Is the soul of Illidan a reincarnation of a Titan who lost his memoeries?

Moreover, when you got his soul back, the quest is titled " The Once and Future Lord of Shadows " ... Mmm pondering...

Illidan only saw the threat while Sargeras was burning out his eyes and imbuing him with power, IIRC. He was defecting to the Legion but the visions he had during this process made him change his mind.

He was already on his way to becoming what he fought, but because of Tyrandes love for Malfurion.

There's no need to go this route, I believe.
What Medivh tries to convey here, it seems, is that the world/the universe is not doomed to either become lost to the Void or to be crushed by the Legion, as their agents keep telling us.
There's still at least one other option: to boldly go where no man has gone before to fight on their territory.

For a God like figure, i don't think it would be that hard for them to come back with a different genre

Do you have a definitive source that Sargeras is male?

Uhm, he has a beard, uhm, and no breasts? In Warcraft, that makes it pretty clear that he is a male, I'd say. Have we even seen any females that have cups smaller than C in Warcraft?

There's a few TCG cards that might fit the bill, with emphasis on the word 'few' and 'might'.
