Incidentally, I was looking through our stats and saw an interesting trend. Here's all our political corruption, according to the Mugabe Relativity Rating:

Stromgard: 56
Dalthalas: 56
Bronzebeard Clan: 47
Kul Tiras: 22
Tinkertown: 7

The world median is 21. You're all terrible people.

27 minutes ago: The Bronzebeard Clan's influence in World of Warcraft fell from "Hermit" to "Superpower".

Nevermind the 'fell'.

SUPERPOWERRRRRR.

Issue: Compulsory Organ Harvesting Proposed

The Issue
Tempers flare in Kul Tiras as civil libertarians and the healthcare lobby clash once again over mandatory post-mortem organ donation.

1. "It's not as crazy as it sounds," says Hydromancer Silmonus Mentonan. "Every day, people die because we don't have the organs to save them. Well, that and widespread under-funding of the health system. But the point is, if the government allowed us to take organs from dead people, we could save hundreds of lives a year. And come on, it's not like dead people need them."

2. "You keep your hands off my organs!" says alarmed hospital patient Fansey Parsh. "They are my organs, and I'll do with them what I like. The government has no right to my body."

(FYI I'm not going to go nuts when the abortion issue comes up. This is Kul Tiras, not real life. )

That's an interesting point. Should we be voting for options according to how we think Kul Tiras should be canonically run, how we think our puppet states should be run or how we think any healthy government should be run? I've been voting as a gnome.

Kul Tiras always seemed to me to be the most like Gilneas. Doing whatever is necessary for it's people.

I vote 2.

You can do both. Vote as a gnomish inhabitant of Kul Tiras, or as a gnomish diplomat attempting to influence the Tirasian government.

But some form of in-universe immersion is the best way to approach this, methinks.

I was wondering whether the eastern kingdoms would allow other races to be their citizen (Ex. Tirassian Gnomes, Ironforge Humans, etc).

When we get to the racism and affirmative action issues, I'll turn them into proper races for us.

The push for mandatory post-mortem organ donation has been quashed. Glancing at immediate effects, citizens' civil rights have increased... while heart disease has replaced old age as the leading cause of death.

In government expenditures, Healthcare has fallen behind Education and Welfare whereas they had been tied earlier. Instead, Healthcare is now in a lower-tiered tie with Defense and Spirituality.

Issue: Reclaim the Streets!

The Issue
Uproar from gnomish and goblin districts throughout the nation! Several major city streets were clogged with two-wheeled manually propelled transportation devices (bicycles) this morning, as the environmental group 'Two Wheels Good, Four Wheels Bad' staged a protest. Several hundred riders ambled through downtown streets, blissfully ignoring the torrent of abuse hurled at them by thousands of motorists attempting to pilot their fuel-powered automobile transport carriers (cars), and running late for work.

1. "People are sick of dirty, smelly automobiles," said protest organizer Gwudry Pedalflower. "They're choking the city, the environment--our lives! Cars must be banned!"

2. "The only thing people are sick of is long-haired idiots riding their bicycles at two miles an hour on major thoroughfares," says committed motorist Dorcyn Britezap. "People shouldn't be able to protest like this. The government needs to crack down on them."

3. The Rocketride Cartel of automobile manufacturers, meanwhile, has called for government support. "It's clear that we need to boost the level of automobile support in this country," announced spokesperson Trixie Tinkersmell. "This protest this morning is a clear indication of... um... anyway, we need more government funds."

Hmmm...

I'm pretty sure fuel-powered automobile transport carriers are goblin tech, so speaking as a gnome, I think I have to go with option 1.

So anyway, I selected Option 1. The way nationstates works, we will have to wait a little longer for the changes to actually transpire. In the meantime, I'll throw up the next issue.

Issue: Corporations Demand Political Say

The Issue
A well-heeled lobby group is pushing for the elimination of regulations that prevent corporations from donating money to political parties.

The Debate
1. "This is supposed to be a democratic country," Information Technology industry spokesperson Raydene Johandrius says. "Yet these archaic laws say I can't donate money to support a political party. They put ceilings on the amount any party can spend on advertising. It's time to stop treating voters like children, and trust them to make up their own minds. Free the ballot box!"

2. "You say political freedom, I hear vote-buying," says popular anarchist Caiane Priliya. "If these fat cats get their way, politicians will buy their own seat in the Senate, or House of Nobles, or whatever we have. And let's face it, a slick advertising campaign can convince a lot of apathetic voters. We need to tighten the laws, not repeal them. Money should have no place in politics!"

3. "Frankly, I don't understand why these peasants imagine your nation to be a democracy," says your old chum, Isiden Perenolde, over a late-night malt whiskey. You hear a sniff from across the room, where Calia Menethil is trying on fine jewelry in front of a large mirror, "You always seem to know what's best. Why not remind this island that there is no political system? It makes things so much simpler."
