I just think it's a foolish statement for him to make.

Sure, he'll pander to his audience there, and to the WoW haters, but he's just made a deliberate, public dig against a former employer. It's not a smart move. Even if he has no intention of ever going back to Blizzard/Activision, it's a small industry, and he burned one of its biggest companies.

He worked on Age of Empires? Cool.

League is my 2nd most played game (after the obvious)

and compared to other MOBA's it really is casual. Hell if my grandma could play WoW I think she would have no problem playing LoL in Bronze.

I had a friend who'se ex boyfriend was a League Player. The guy was a creepy obsessive stalker who even tried to get his mother to call her when she finally dumped his sorry ass and decided to not take his manipulative nonsense anymore. Hell the one time we were in a cafe together he evidently followed us in. I was actually kinda scared for a little while after.

this statement would have been more effective if LoL wasn't the second easiest MOBA out there (the first one being HotS and that was done on purpose and stated that way)

On it's face, it's a standard passive-aggressive dig which shouldn't be taken much further than pandering to the League fanbase. Go further in, and I bet he's willing to color outside the lines because of whatever disagreements he may have had with the rest of the Blizz team before switching employment.

Even if it is benign, I can tell you the points he scored with Leaguers won't be much if any in comparison to those he lost on the other side. League players are, sans a few outliers, fickle fanbois. I play the game (free to play is just too nice, sorry Blizz...and hurry up with HotS) and I can tell you that it's a shock to find someone who isn't a giant dick when they're not getting their way. The median response to everything is, "fuck you, feeding/afk now."

Greg won't get the same kind of applause the way he did in WoW, because kids in League are more obsessed with their favorite e-sports team than they are about the game/game-culture itself. And when everyone treats each-other like they're part of a reality tv show, a lot of stupidity tends to cover up what good aspects exist.

In any case, yeah, Greg's having fun, but it's a pointless kind of fun that doesn't belong in the news cycle.

I have played HotS but I have never played LoL. One of my friends even put it on my computer when I let him borrow it and I still never opened it. There is something about it that makes me not want to even try it.

If you haven't started LoL yet, it's not worth it. I started playing when it was about 3 months off of gold with a bunch of friends, so I'm just running with the free/vested option. I've heard from friends in HotS Alpha that it's basically League, but with more team work required and less pain due to lack of itemization. If I were in your position, I'd just help friends who get into the Alpha get in shape for when it hits 1.0.

That said, League is extremely fun when you get a rare good team and everything's fairly close together. Otherwise, it's a lot of raging, people making crazy stupid mistakes when they get ahead (I can't claim blamelessness here) and generally just a ton of facepalming moments.

There is a lot of team work in HotS. Heroes like Abathur and Brightwing are purely support heroes. The community in HotS is good and I hope that doesn't go away the further we drift away from Alpha.

Nova is my favorite character. She is squishy but she can be invisible and pack a lot of burst damage in. I much prefer the Starcraft science fiction over the Warcraft/Diablo fantasy as well.

HotS is pretty fun. I mess with it sometimes, but the community will go down hill, I guarantee it.
