The Garrosh short story explains it. Kairoz brought with him half of the broken magical hourglass (the Vision of Time), with the other half remaining in our Azeroth. The two parts of the hourglass are like beacons signaling each other, maintaining a connection between those specific timelines.

So, if someone gets one half of the Hourglass and brings it to the other half, the connection would be lost.

So... a PC E3 Conference is being hosted by Day9. Blizzard will be showing something. Any thoughts as to what it is?

They are already gates meant to travel between worlds. With the hourglass as a beacon (to point to what world/time to link), they use the magic of the already existing gates.

Remember that the dark portal needed to be open on both sides, so Garrosh just ordered Gul'dan to make their portal, and link it to the existing portal in Azeroth, hijacking it from its original purpose, since there was no one else to open a new gate in Azeroth for him.

i'm disappointed with many of the choices made in warlords but I'm not going to sit here and say shit like "I hope Blizzard burns", wanting people to lose their jobs, etc.

I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibility to have 7.0 hitting Live next March (9 months from a June 6.2 release) and the xpac landing in April (10 months). That’s with the 7.0 reveal at BlizzCon, Beta starting a week later, and 4 months of Beta testing.

Sunwell -> Wrath was 8 months. ICC -> Cata was 12 months with ruby sanctum. Dragon Soul -> MoP was 10 months with nothing. SoO -> WoD was 14 months.

A 10 month drought isn’t ideal but neither is it as horrible as some of you are making it out to be. I think ideally Blizz was shooting for the 7/8-month mark but personally I felt really rushed at the end of TBC to get all of the latest content done, and I kinda like the 3 month downtime (assuming a 6-month “lifespan” for the raid) to take a break and kinda mull through all the stuff I hadn’t gotten around to doing yet, like archaeology, and just have a leisurely goodbye to the expansion. That being said, if they stick to the one-raid-patch model from here on out, they really really should go through a .1 -> .2 -> .3 cycle, not end it at 2. Even if it’s just a little thing.
