Runes Nintendo! Woohoo!

So after seeing some art of other Nintendo character drawn as Fire Emblem style I decided to finally make a Nintendo thread separate from the main videogames thread since it's got so many legacy characters and long-running franchises.

You can see the artists other characters (Kirby, MetaKnight, Peach, Toad, Bowser, etc...) at their main blog here: http://dc9spot.tumblr.com/

First order of business, I think Nintendo ought to do what Games Workshop is doing with its IP, be a bit more flexible instead of hoarding the characters and releasing a game once every few years for each of these famous legacies and hoping that they're enough of a cash cow amidst all the indie stuff to carry it until the next game's out.

Don't get me wrong, Nintendo's apparently not hurting for cash, they've been tremendously profitable, but right now they release at a pretty glacial pace, when they COULD let more studios handle the IP, and then just renew contracts on those who make good games with it.

To avoid burnout they could cycle through IPs, doing a few years of Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, then a few years of Starfox, Kirby, and Metroid, maybe even revive a few older franchises like IceClimbers and F-Zero.

Thoughts?

Don't they contract out Metroid to Retro Studios which is a company in Texas?

Sadly I think they stopped after Metroid Prime3 which is a shame because those games were fantastic (though I preferred 2 to 3)

Aren't they working on a game now?

Having a Metroid game be as big at BotW would be amazing.

Or maybe get a Wii U and buy the HD, so i can BOTW as well

Windwaker always looked too goofy for me. Not even Mario or Kirby looks that cartoony and I like it when Zelda is more serious.

Can someone please ass PJS now for inflammatory remarks?

I love Windwaker especially for its Ganondorf depiction

I haven't seen the end of BotW but I know he's in not good shape and I'm worried about him. Rumors are his resurrection cycle is screwed up, possibly meaning he's lost his humanity to gain TrueImmortality or that link and Zelda might actually break the cycle in dlc or a sequel

I think views of BotW as a soft reset of the franchise are correct, it seems to blend all the timelines, and Im really curious where they'll go from here

I hope they eventually do another game where you play as another species like in Majoras mask, maybe something with the champions

Its devs are out of touch with the setting

I think Oma once mentioned they literally didn't understand what a bountyhunter was and though catching criminals for money would be too mean for Samus

Has Samus actually ever hunted bounties? I remember exploring alien planets/space ships and getting a bunch of powers all by myself.

I hope they innovate Metroid the same way they did Zelda. There are a lot of science fiction shooter games that have came out over the years they could pull from. They could make this epic Metroid world.

I want more buff and gritty Samus.

I feel like this person captured her look very well for their "Super Smash Emblem" idea.

That looks like the least useful (or just the most cumbersome) spear of all time.

Why's that? the semi-circle things on the ends?

Yeah, you'd think such massive crossguards would be an impediment.

Well it's just fanart and it's not like we haven't seen more absurd weapons in fantasy games before.

Though in Fire Emblem there's a good chance the spear's magic somehow, especially if used by Samus, maybe it shoots lightning or something, who knows.
