Yeah I got in the last weekend beta. Which technically is all I can say about the beta experience according to the testing agreement.

But yeah, near the end I started choosing between spoiling myself too much and wanting to see where the rest of the story went.

You know, that's what I thought. Turns out I'm now going to play that class.

Though I played a bit of many classes, and they were all fun.

I feel a certain patriotism for the Empire. Going to make myself a Pureblood Warrior and Cyborg Agent at launch.

It's all good. Mando armor is always a good conversation piece, and I've got plenty of trophy racks.

Won't buy it. Looks like WoW in space and they've butchered the few Star Wars universe characters I actually liked. The Sith Emperor reminds me of the Old Gods, the forum debates will be JUST like WoW ("Sith aren't evil! They're just misunderstood!" - "The Republic can't do anything bad! They're the good guys!")

Also, space WoW and subscription fee. I'll pass and get drunk on Skyrim instead.

How can they butcher SW universe characters you liked, it's set a thousand years before the movies. So enless you're talking about KotOR characters, they really havent.
In WoW the Horde is genuinely not evil(except perhaps the Forsaken) and they're meant to be grey. In TOR the Empire is evil, though that doesn't make everyone who was born into Empire space or even all sith evil, some are oppertunistic, others are just trying to stay alive, but some are genuinely evil.
It's not like WoW because it's a lot more story driven and engaging, leveling isn't just something you breeze through to get to engame content. It's an entire story told around your character and his/her place in the game. Worst case scenario it's a KotOR game with 500 hours of completely unique content with sloppy MMO features, best case scenario it's an awesome MMO that hooks people on and shows to other MMO developers how important story can be to the game.

I think I can say that the "It feels like WoW" feeling goes away in about 10 minutes or less of actually playing. The two games are very far apart while having some similar mechanics.

Since this is P2P I'm not gonna play this. Not against p2p games but I have a life and it just got hard.

But if it was a f2p game..........then I will play the hell out of it. I was a fan of KOTOR and I would love to play a full darkside character for this. I like to see how they will incorporate the story into a MMO.

Not gonna be a force user through, probably a trooper or an Imperial Agent, as I want a break from using the force to pwn ppl.

Hell I might even play a good sith for the lulz!

And as for those ppl who use the "lore card" to detract this game's merits I'll say this. Revan's a blank slate character, with you-decide morals or ethics. Yea the Light Side ending was canon but you can be a LS character and still get the DS ending at the end. So alignment-wise not so much. And oh, this is Bioware we're talking about! Chances are that "raid" was a twist and that you only killed a clone! So don't get all fussed about that! I bet both the "Save Revan" and the "Kill Revan" ending was canon and that neither of them was real, and the real Revan is still out there somewhere. This could be the best hook for future patches or expansions.

Bioware generally always has a "This is what actually happened previously" for all their games. You can see this in Mass Effect 2 if you start a character that was not imported from one of your Mass Effect games. Mass Effect 3 will probably do that as well.

Bioware has said that ME3 will feature something like Genesis by default so those who don't import can still have some control over their Shep's past choices.

After playing through ME1 and 2, as well as KotOR I can honestly say I'm not impressed by Bioware. They're terrible about bugs/bug fixes as is, and porting their lack of discipline over to an MMO with multiple massive planets just sounds like disaster.

Class wise it's no different than any other MMO I've seen before. Nothing that's been shown really impresses me to any extent.

Graphics wise, they're pulling a Blizzard, but they're doing it incorrectly. Blizz is working on its own franchises, it can be quirky and funny and get away with bad graphics because they aren't really as mandatory as other parts of the game. Bioware on the other hand is working with a serious universe, which means they don't control the art style, so they're stuck trying to fit badly shaded/animated models in a way that only accentuates their mediocrity.

Furthermore, SWtoR is pushing the idea of massive areas and quests related to the story. That's all fine and good, but those hundreds of hours of dialogue are for lore fans, not regular joes. Blizz and GW, for all that we gripe about in terms of in-game lore, voices, etc. understands players don't want to deal with a 30 second cut scene or 10 second stop for dialogue choice every 5 minutes. If you screw with the flow of the game, extend it unnecessarily, bore non-lore fans, you lose a huge chunk of your player base. Not to mention they're funneling people into raid and pvp content, but they're forcing them to do it in a specific way.

And finally, those stat boosts spoken of previously. Yeah, that becomes mandatory grinding for new and secondary accounts. It's not fun or unique little bonuses if everyone is forced to get them to stay competitive.

Bioware is being very overly ambitious, and it's probably going to screw them, but I'm not going to give any final judgments until I see the final product for myself.

Those are all valid points. However, since I'm really not expecting much more than to be entertained until the launch of GW2, I'll indulge my Star Wars fanboy and play this one.

how is the questing like? in all teh videos i saw it was either fetchquests or kill 10 rat quests without hiding it behing a good story.

wow's questing is great now. i recently did the gilneas entry zone again and i was not bored once. what i mean is: how well are the quests intergrated into the story and how varied are the quests?

SWTOR's questing was better than WoW's. In my opinion. Including the new stuff in WoW.

Bioware isn't exactly exaggerating when they say that there are people who have problems going back to their other MMOs after playing SWTOR. Of course, that doesn't apply to everyone.

Fair enough, I should've said KotOR characters. But then again, those have been the only connection I've had to the Star Wars universe.

Honestly? That doesn't impress me, and I doubt they'll live up to the hype. I hope they do, but I don't think they will. It might be story driven, but the stories might be horribad. I've lost a lot of faith in Bioware after Dragon Age 2 and the Swtor beta leaks I've seen.

I really sound like a complete tit don't I?

Edit: Heh, according to a LOT of people, the Empire isn't evil. They're justified and blah blah blah. It'll be JUST like all the Alliance vs Horde arguments.

See, I thought the second dragon age story was better than the first. The first game itself was....more complete as far as environments go, but da2 mechanics and combat were more enjoyable

If it wasn't about Star Wars, this MMO would suck hell.

Also, I hate how it's the Old Republic, but shit looks like the original trilogies. FFS originality.

That's kind of on purpose to make sure that the game feels like Star Wars, especially those who never played KOTOR.

And I agree with Ferlion on the Dragon Age 2 story. I thought it was much better than the first one. Less areas to explore, but the story was better.
