I know a lot of atheists who are compassionate and decent human beings. There used to be a sign outside our church that said "God cares more about Good Atheists than Bad Christians".

What your church said is true. Better to be morally good than a "God hates fags!" kinda guy.

Comes down to experience. Most atheists I know are super aggressive about it. You know, the type you can't say "Bless you" to when they sneeze.

If god exists can we prosecute Him for crimes against humanity?

If we can't get hold of him, that'll be difficult.

Can't he be tried in absentia?

It would be nice if everyone realized that. Unfortunately that's not the case.

Dunno honestly, I am speaking strictly of Christianity, which with the assertion that Jesus is God makes his teachings supersede any archaic Jewish ones. Basically as if God came today and said x belief is correct, y is wrong except it happened 2000 years ago. If it happened today, even if any Christians remained after that the NeoChristians would disregard the old teachings. Get it?

EDIT: MADE A BIG ONE, RE-READ

That's not true though. God loves everyone equally, I am no different than you, Bolvar, Abraham Lincoln, or Hitler in his eyes.

But I wouldn't put myself in the same camps as Abraham Lincoln or Adolf Hitler.

From our human perspective we see ourselves as different from them and I'd say for good reason, but God doesn't judge us based on our morals or beliefs. The only things that matters is that we are all guilty under the law and that Jesus takes our punishment saving us from that punishment so long as we accept salvation.

I would agree with you that an atheist who does good is a better person than someone who claims to be a Christian but does not do good.

If there's one thing Shin Megami Tensei taught me it's that god can be defeated and he gives hella XP. It also taught me that he's a giant three-faced train living in the center of a black data-star. It's a strange faith but I stand by its principles.

There is no evidence that can speak to the fundamental truths of the universe because everything we think we know is based on the presumption that what we can observe is accurate. Among other things.

No gods or kings, only man!

Depends on the charges. And the god.

We've a history of about 800 years where ALL progressive science in europe was funded by the vatican. To be fair, creationism and denial of science is something I've largely only experienced in the american south.

Also, I don't feel as if I could ever repost this too much:

The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.

No one ever said elves are nice.
Elves are bad.

I alway wondered what would happen if the Patriarchs or the Pope played SMT.

Also, Shintoism bias.

So, the purpose to religion is to scare people into behaving? Because Santa works that way too, therefore is he necessary and true?

Are you sure? Most of them are not like that. Just a few are. Many are as morally good as Christians.
