On another note, the human art style seems to look very similar to the artwork produced for Dr Grordborts.

It was very nice, it had depth but also a healthy dose of levity, and again Blizzard's superb quality in cinematics must be saluted.

One thing that kinda sucks is that they picked a behemoth of an orc to fight the human, that way they had to make him look like a brainless 'roid abuser to justify the human surviving him due to the skill difference. It would have been way more imposing if the orc was a regular sized one, or even scrawny, so the battle can be a bit more skill based... but that is just nitpicking I guess.

Also, I am surprised this cinematic hasn't yet been used by the fanzies to justify killing unarmed orcs, because well "look at what an unarmed orc can do."

We saw the player (keep in mind players are considered prodigious exemplars of their race/class) take like a hundred swings at Varian and Varian dodged all but one and made no attempt to hit back. That wasn't a real fight and you know it.

That said, on my like 10th time watching it I noticed that the Human DID get a hit in. Shortly after Chen disables the Orc for the first time the Human makes a swing with his spear that hits Chen's hat, breaking a hole in it. That was when there was a pause and Chen grinned slightly.

Good idea.

I'd like to see Varian vs Chen in cinematics... but alas that will never happen.

^ My last comment actually wasn't meant as a Fojar strike. I'm happy knowing that either of them got a hit in!

Who cares? Honestly, why does it matter if either of them got a hit in?

That's not Taylor and Nazgrim. That's, at best, a no-name officer/captain and a grunt. They're up against Chen motherfucking Stormstout. Neither have experience fighting against Pandaren martial arts.

I'll rephrase.

I'm fine with Chen Stormstout smacking around a random human and orc without even getting touched.

But if the human or orc gets a lucky hit in (accompanied with a slight smile from Chen), I feel it adds.

I love the incredulous expression the human makes for a split second after handing the orc his spear.

"Is that a fucking pandaren?"

Also, yes, it's definitely Chen. In addition to obviously being his voice, the design is virtually identical to the action figure, right down to the keg.

Here's the concept art Samwise did for the action figure:

Or maybe it wasn't Chen considering that, you know, all the monks kinda wear the same clothes.

Anyway, I have a request. Could any of you good folks make a high-res shot out of the pandaren smiling at the end, just after he smells the air? I wanna use that as an avatar, except I don't know how to do it.

I would be very grateful!

Watched the cinematic. It failed in setting the proper tone for the expansion, but the art is beautiful as expected.

I see your league of legends avatar and it is now time to judge you.

Is Ahri, Dray-ven, Darius, Jayce, and Zyra good character design?

Chinese or western splash art?

I'd love to see the human and orc become friends. while they still fight for their faction, they get tired by the war, their leaders and all its bullshit. the human and orc meet sometimes later again and ready to fight, but put down their weapons.

a bit later both can be seen fighting side by side fighting for the army that tries to dispose of garrosh.

(when the fight is over they might even share a kiss. INTERSPIECES GAY KISSING!!!! )

They wanted to put a Forsaken in the cinematic, but one that wasn't plaguing something or worshiping Sylvanas could not be found.

Are you serious? It set the tone just perfectly.

The Alliance-Horde war, the lightheartedness but also the wisdom of the pandaren, everything's there.

Likewise, we've still never seen a Gnome or Troll in any of WoW's fancy cinematics.

Take heart!

That was fucking amazing, but I expected more Horde vs Alliance badassery.
Still pretty much the best thing ever. I was SURE I saw a gnome
