Surprised to see only one monk in the bottom five.

Windwalkers are great, Mistweavers are decent. I'm sure when/if the nerfs come they'll drop swiftly but for now, I've seen loads of newly levelled Belf Monks in BGs.

And I was considering race-changing my Warlock to Dwarf. Looks like it's a definite decision now.

Actually, I am starting to witness more and more Troll Monks and Dwarf Mages.

I see those two combos more than I do Worgen Priest or Orc Mages in fact.

With 7.3 on the horizon, I believe it's time for some updates!

Wow, DHs exploded. I knew a lot of people wanted to play them, but I didn't expect them to be in the top two slots.

Well, look at the most played class/race combos. You'll notice they're the two classes that have the fewest races available to them. With only two races, one per faction, available to DHs, of course it's gonna be concentrated.

That doesn't mean that there are so many DH players, just that they have less choice.

Most would play elves regardless though.

Yes, it does. Look at the 110 table, DH is the most played class.

Urghhhhh why couldn't they have made Draenei and Orc demon hunters too? It would have boosted those populations too as well as being so cool

Honestly this made me wanna resub to level a dwarf mage or warlock.

I'd make her a Dark Iron for the warlock if I could, while if I made a mage I'd make the guy an illusionist/arcane focus (lots of toys that mess with appearance)

Well... maybe if the next expansion does something for the faction story. *sighs*

Yeah, that's about what I do. I pretend all of my characters are deranged murder-hobos who realize that nothing they do will make any difference so they might as well enjoy themselves.

Eh, yes and no.

I'll concede that Blizzard's focus on the Alliance/Horde's particular stories has been spotty for a good while, and given the fact we've been facing existential threats to all of life on Azeroth and/or the fabric of reality as we know it (and honestly, that's been the case as far back as WC3), it's easy to see why the biggest recipients of story development should be in the forces and factions immediately engaged in the primary conflict of the day or expansion or patch or what have you.

That said, I think it's perfectly reasonable to want to try and look at the story through the lens of the primary playable factions and their characters, given that this was the hallmark of the franchise at the moment of its inception (Heck, the very first game was called Orcs & Humans).

For all their flaws, I think both Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria did a good job of striking a balance between addressing the major antagonist(s) of the day and giving us a good look at the ground level of how the story was progressing within the factions to which we belonged. Though in Cataclysm's case, the fact we were still sticking around the old continents probably contributed a great deal to that balancing act's success (at least in my opinion).

No surprise really, classes that are most restricted tend to dominate. Demon hunters are the most restricted, plus night elves and blood elves are popular races AND it has that "new toy" shine no wonder they are exploding.

Though, how powerful are racials these days? I wonder if they make much of an impact.
