Rotal, what do you think? Also, you do realise that this means the Prime timeline lives?

Darkmoon Card: Elementals

It's confirmed to take place 20 years after Nemesis.
Man, I hope they don't fuck this up. I really wish we had more info.

I'm not sure this is a good idea.

The Prime timeline has been "confirmed alive" since they decided that Discovery takes place in it and we all know how THAT one turned out... Thanks to my shit family live Captain Picard is the closest thing i have to a father figure so i'm flipping my shit over the inevitable dry assfuck the character will receive. "He may not even be a Starfleet Captain!" Yes please give us Indiana Jones Picard because that was SO interesting in the Vash-episode... as long as the same idiots in charge of STD REMAIN in charge there is no chance on this being any good.

Well, looks like we're gonna get more Post-Nemesis Trek than we thought.

Discovery just jumped about 900 years into the future and that seems to be permanent, as all records about Discovery and her crew have basically been wiped from history.
Should be an interesting third season.

They probably should have done that to begin with. I still doubt it's worth watching.

I hope so. I'm not vehemently against prequels, but I don't like it when franchises drown in prequels, interquels, reboots and reimaginations and refuse to move forward. Specifically Star Trek post Nemesis and Foundation post Foundation and Earth.

I already like Discovery better than any other Star Trek series and if they actually advance the franchise's storyline it would be great.

It seems they've been afraid to touch canon post-Nemesis for some reason, STO aside which just plays like a big official fanfic with voice actors from across the franchise. Prequels are definitely getting old in many franchises. They spend too much time playing the "haha, you get this reference, right?" angle (see Star Wars Solo) and/or they fuck up continuity and end up with a bunch of awkward retcons (see Discovery).

[edit] And the oversaturation continues...

Soon, we will have the following concurrent series:
  • Star Trek: Discovery
  • Short Treks
  • Star Trek: Lower Decks (animated)
  • Untitled Picard Show
  • Untitled Section 31 Show
  • Untitled Nickelodeon Show (animated)

Is the destruction of Romulus canon in the prime timeline?

It's considered prime timeline canon, yes. It's even accounted for in Star Trek Online, which itself is technically canon and everything they do is signed off by CBS. Not that I expect the Picard series to respect any STO canon.
