Default WoW Audio Drama Master Thread

Well, tomorrow is the day, so about time for a master topic.

The preview for "The Tomb of Sargeras" two weeks ago already sounded quite nice.

It's generally 'accepted' voice actors for video games get paid in dirt, if they're lucky. Radio dramas are a more arty medium which means they might have people asking for a shiny penny or two and we all know how stingy Blizzard is with their voice acting budget.

They've been milking the hell out of Khadgar though.

Based on the preview, it's rather a Audio Book, than a Real Audio Drama.

I guess they want to try out if this makes Short Stories more accessable.

Its pretty good, and it portrays Gul'dan in an interesting way. Gul'dan is desperate, not liking being under Kil'jaeden's command.

Its interesting to see him not be so commanding. It reminds me in a way of Ner'zhul and his ultimate fate as the Lich King.

edit: Apparently MU-Gul'dan was meant to do exactly what AU-Gul'dan did in the Tomb. If you can take Kil'jaeden at his word, anyway.

That's a lot longer than I expected.

I still feel like "audio drama" is a bit of false advertising though; when I think of those, I think of the actors acting it out like an old radio show. This is just an audio book without the book. Still looking forward to sitting down and listening though.

Thal'dranath mentioned as the island Gul'dan raised in his previous life. It's another name for Broken Shore apparently since Kil'jaeden says Tomb of Sargeras is on it.

Perhaps personal interpretation. Because audiobooks don't have audio effects, music and various tones of voices like this. But yeah it's pretty cool so far.

Writing is pretty solid in it, and I like the creepy atmosphere it has at times with the music.

I like how they gave more of a purpose to MU Gul'dan raising the tomb than just "let the Horde in and you'll have power" while simultaneously keeping in that he did it for personal power and that bit him in the ass in the end.

Liked it overall. There were many finer points they touched on that they don't usually do. Like Gul'dan trying to find out more about his other self. His loyalty being more questionable. Really displayed Gul'dan's character more.

"Why should I expect this to go any better?"

At least he's self-aware.

"Knowing there was already a Gul'dan who had lived and died in this timeline made his skin crawl." Huh, I think this is the first time any character as ever acknowledged that, whether on Draenor or (now) Azeroth.

So the first person in the audio was a Nightfallen trying to eat Gul'Dan? Was Gul'Dan in Suramar first?
