Yeah, British people are quite baffled by the stereotype, as dentistry in the UK is generally pretty good. While I don't make a habit of checking out people's teeth, everything looked pretty normal in the UK when I visited.

Britian is catnip to the USA. They love it!

And British food is amazing if you are British, most of the EU, and USA don't like our food because it is very bitter and tangy. French think our meat is burned, our veggies are too soft.

I for one love it, a good sunday roast is the best thing and sets me up in a good mood for the rest of the week.

Anyone who doesn't say the Uk is the best county in the world, is delusional, or jealous!

But, they really don't know how lucky they have it. How good it is, how much shit it puts up with from the general public...

I believe this problem has been caused by the lack of strong order in the NHS, as of late. The devaluing of uniforms, the removal of matrons (not the 'modern matrons' that are nothing like the old ones). Matrons used to be the public face of the NHS. They didn't put up with bullshit, and they wore a uniform that commanded respect. If you saw one, you knew she was in charge. You didn't question her judgement.

We need that kind of authoritativeness back in the NHS.

Yes! I approve of this.

Being a nurse even was a job of respect and honour. Now its devalued and disrespected. I can see that difference in my lifetime, and I am young. Its a shame, they work bloody hard for a pittance

My grandmother on my father's side was a nurse during the war. That's how she and my American grandfather met. He was injured pretty soon after the US joined the European theater. She was one among the first "war brides" to come back to the States. Really brave woman. She up and left everything and everyone she ever knew during the midst of a terrible war and moved to a farm in Arkansas. So I've always had a bit of British pomp in my southern-fried upbringing. She would make these little custards and cucumber salads for me and the other grandkids.
