The forums were loading really slow and then most people decided to chat on Discord.

It got SO agonizingly slow for a few months most people migrated to the Discord cause it was faster.

Anyone else think that it will be the players that chose to keep N'Zoth's gift that will end up freeing him?

Like, you defeat Azshara, the danger is over, cue cutscene (NOT cinematic), and suddenly the party members manifest the eye in their forehead and break the final seal or something?

Boom, players, maybe even YOU, just released an Old God.

I posted this on Reddit yesterday:

Quote:
This is what N'Zoth says during the questline: "Go... but the blade must remain... to serve my will."

We all know that the blade goes to Sylvanas.

So, we can assume that Sylvanas will serve N'Zoth somehow.

What does Alleria have to do with it?

Well...

Alleria had a vision, portrayed in A Thousand Years of War. There she saw herself kneeling before N'Zoth. She saw herself killing it and taking its place, leading a throng of horrors to consume every nation.

Sylvanas is also the only Warbringer to not have a raid fight... yet.

So this is what I think it will happen, based on the clues:

There will be another faction-split raid in 8.3, just like the Battle of Dazar'Alor. Alliance players will fight Sylvanas under Alleria's command.

However, that fight will only be a lure to draw out Alleria.

In order to stop Sylvanas from whatever is it that N'Zoth wants her to do with the blade, Alleria will kill it and take its place.

After all, she has absorbed the power of a demi-god already.

I believe that would set-up 9.0 quite nicely.

What's a "megadungeon" in modern WoW anyway? Compared to the Blackrock Depths, how "mega" is Mechagon?

If I had to do a dungeon as large as OG BRD to get relevant stuff for raiding, I would immediately unsub or at least bench myself from the raiding core.

Blackrock Depths is fucking glorious. It's a proper dungeon; there's multiple routes to take, bunchloads of quests to do, about a gazillion bosses, and covers about ten levels of progress. It's made to be run over and over again, to slowly make your way to the upper levels and kill Emperor What's-his-name.

Why do you hate adventures?

Because if it has rewards that are relevant for raiding, then it will have to be done over and over and over until you get your items. Ergo, far from being an "adventure".

Shadow Orb

Thinking of this game only in terms of raiding is what ruined it.

Maybe I'm too much of a casual at heart, but when you get to the point where you "have to" do anything in WoW you've sort of surpassed your adventures of an RPG a long time ago, and rather find your enjoyment in phat lootz and the quick stimuli of a slightly higher DPS count.

But then again, WoW has been stripped of most of the few classic RPG elements it had, so it's not much of a surprise to me if Mechagon is nowhere near as ambitious, or in any way similar to vanilla's dungeons.

Technically it's lower isn't it? Or am I misremembering the ups and downs there?

As I recall one moves downward through most of the dungeon segments en route to Flamelash's location, with the lowest point being the lava pits around the Molten Core entrance, then the path starts working upward again through subsequent chambers on approach to the Imperial Seat

So horizontally the final halls are probably roughly adjacent to some of the earlier portions of the instance.

To be fair, I don't actually remember. I figured that it was an upper floor, since you ascend through the Grim Guzzler, which itself is higher than the entrance floors (right?), and then go up a few flights of stairs fighting golems at some point. And the very last room before the Emperor's was accessed by going up a ramp from the flamewalker-guy (issat Flamelash?).

Although looking at a playthrough of Vanilla BRD, that ramp going from the flamewalker to the big-ass Moria-looking room wasn't half as tall as I remembered. And ARM's right, throughout most of the dungeon you actually descend.

The point is still that BRD was a huge, beautiful labyrinth of a dungeon, with a crapload of content crammed into it, giving you a vast number of options as to what to do there, and where to go.

I've personally wasted a long time thinking of how the map of Shadowforge works. It truly is glorious. The core of the city, or what is now BRD, is roughly beneath the Athenaeum of BWD.
