So, in the continued theme if the world taking a giant shit all over me, our gas and electric was raised by $300 bucks the last month, and we were given no warning. So, that's a total rent increase of $600 a month, and in hits at once (more, technically, since the utilities was a short month).

But, silver lining, a 46 ft Catamaran popped up for $15 grand, and if we call in all our family favors, we can probably snag it, and break our lease via legal outs, and move on that.

The downside? Well, it's had it's rudder ripped off in a storm, and one side of it took on water, so it's pretty water damaged. So, you know, it'll need another 10K worth of work to get back into mint.... But... you know, if we get it, move onto it, and go from there it'll be saving thousands a month in rent, and a boat that size is nearly the same size of the place we have now. And if it wasn't, we have a 30ft boat that I've been buying off my parents (slowly) that I was going to move onto anyway.

So, yeah..

But, with the rent increase, with or without getting lucky, I'm now giving up nearly my entire paycheck to help out my family and stay where I'm at instead of moving to the mainland. A rough couple of months, and it's not over yet..

Time for a little bit of luck, because we fucking need it at this point. $3000 a month for a 2400Sqft place is way out of line, and it's still, realistically, the cheapest place we can get safely.

There's a point when you're naked on the floor with someone you didn't even know two weeks ago when you realize the general nonsense of life ain't too shabby sometimes

Went over to my mate, got told that his ex-girlfriend was found dead in her appartment last monday. I knew her a little over a year's time. She was always frail, having stunted growth because of pregnancy complications and being very lax with keeping herself fit and eating. Still, it's very sad when a 27 year old girl dies in her sleep.

Rest in peace, Julia.

So do you guys remember when I told you that I was helping a girl from my class prepare for an interview at Cambridge University to study economics?

Seems like she fucked up in the interview...

Well, I'd say this probably decreases your odds of scoring with that one...

I never intended to bang her anyway.

I'm just slightly pissed that her nerves got to her during the interview and couldn't answer the simplest of questions, questions on Game Theory and IS-LM curves.

Then again, the person in question gets easily nervous, even when I was giving her a crash course on economics and current events. There's no way that you could prepare yourself for an interview like that if you've only started studying economics seriously for the past 2 weeks. I should've seen this coming...

To be fair, I managed to make a few right howlers at interview. Loads of people do...

But then again, it's how you bounce back from the howlers, how much you show that, you know, you've made that one mistake, and by the time you get in next year you'll show them that you remember the difference between kinetic and thermodynamic stability. And at least if you screw up the easy stuff, you should be able to show a strong line of thinking for the harder stuff.

It's impossible to tell how you've done from the interviews, given that some of the best candidates get easy questions wrong, and that if you're really good, you're likely to get asked harder questions (unless you're just given the same set of questions, and they're all pretty basic). But someone without experience, yeah, you're fucked the moment you applied.

She'd be going to Cambridge anyway. That's not exactly a loss.

I tend to be a bit too formal at interviews. Sometimes this works in my favor, sometimes it doesn't. I'm working on trying to appear more relaxed and casual.

I think a lot of people think I am afraid all the time. I am not but I suppose I come off like that. My retail boss when I was younger asked me if he made me nervous on my first day of work.

Yeah, it's always frustrating to give off a vibe that doesn't really reflect you. I guess it's just something everyone has to work on throughout their lives.
