Default StarCraft 2 - Blizzcon Discussion

So they announced a bunch of new terran units (officially) and now we know what the single player campaign is going to be like.

Any thoughts?

I love the banshees. They look pretty awesome, I just hope they have a WC3 banshee quote for kicks.

The vikings are pretty awesome too, and as are the ghost's new abilities. A lot of units that were previously pretty limited (wraiths, ghosts, valkyries...) have found new life in these new units. (Ghosts to ghosts, wraiths in those predators, and valkyries in banshees.)

This is all pretty impressive, and I'm so looking forward to the Zerg.

As for the single-player campaign. Sounds pretty fun. Though I'm hoping the voices in the clip are only placeholders. (Check Blizzplanet for the clip)

The campaign briefing room looks awesome.

I wonder if upgrades are permanent or if they just let you purchase them.

I don't see whats wrong with the voices. Tychus sounds the same as he did in the trailer, and I think Matt sounds like I would expect him based on his looks. Zeratul sounds perfect to me, I actually like his voice now, when before he felt just like any other dark templar to me.

The only weird one right now is Jimmy, and thats only because I am so used to his old voice and face, its hard to connect them both together since they look and sound so different. They are really bringing out Jimmy's accent this time around, when before it was not nearly as "hillbilly" as some of the other units and characters.

It also does not help that Jimmy seems more reserved and a bit less outgoing then he did in SC1, he used to seem very emotional, but right now he seems so calm, it feels like he is a lot older but I don't imagine much time has passed. I admit though, this might just be how Blizzard wants to continue with him as a bit more broken and down on his luck, like they said in the panel, and even Tychus during the conversation they had said that Jimmy had changed. Thus I guess he went from an outgoing guy that seemed to ooze respect and loyalty, to a drunk barely holding together his crew.

Going around those rooms in the Hyperion and choosing how you talk with the other crew members gives a rpg feel to it, especially when they mentioned side stories that were related to it, sounds awesome.

Jim sounds and looks like a totally different character, too bad they didn´t used the old voice actor.

I think it is the same guy doing Jim, remember the guy is ten years older now.... and he's had alot more practice doing voices. Kerrigan's voice actor has been confirmed as being back on.

It's looking awesome. Definately going to ease some of the pain of Dalaran betraying the Alliance, just as Khadgar did.
Now I can focus my attention on something that's actually awesome with a GOOD story.

All the voices are placeholders. That's Chris Metzen doing Zeratul's voice... so... that as much as confirms it I'd say.

It is not the same guy doing Jim, and Zeratul's voice sounds horrible. Instead of a mysterious and depressed reluctant hero, he's just kind of a deep voiced guy who's injured. The first one was the same guy who did the voice of Dugalle so that's pretty awesome...

Of course it's just like 2 lines, but still.

And Glynnis was confirmed like a DAY before this trailer was released. I doubt they have hired all the actors.

Tychus is not a placeholder, since his voice was also used in the cinematic.

As for Metzen, what makes you think him doing the voice of Zeratul makes it a placeholder? You do know that Metzen did the voice of Thrall often, so why is it so hard to think he would do someone else important like Zeratul?

As for the rest, we will have to wait and see. We can not say for sure if they are placeholders or not (If you can say otherwise show proof), but I know most companies often get their voice work done far in advance so that the cinematic team has time to work on any scenes that involve them.

Actually, I've heard someone say that that question was asked at Blizzcon, and Metzen said that the guy who did Zeratul was dead.....

Also on imbd it says Thrall etc are done by some dude named Harlon something?

Also Jim Raynor DOES sound simular, and it has been ten years for Robert, so maybe it is the same? Also you got to figure that the people are doing actual dialogue this time, they aren't coming in and doing a 4 hour voice recording thing like in SC. Even if it's not his original voice, Raynor's voice still sounds good to me I sort of like the drawl though I might be biased.

Because the old voice was better, plain and simple and frankly, i´m tired of hearing his voice in 30 different raid bosses in WoW. Those guys at Blizzard with all that money and they can´t get a full cast of voice actors?

Just get the old ones please.

Because he's a Blizzard employee who's easy to do a recording session with.

No he's not.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0363878/

And Chris Metzen is definitely Thrall. You can hear it in his regular voice even.

On a completely off-topic notice for James...

Biohazard 5 (2008) (VG) (post-production) (voice) .... Ozwell E. Spencer

Holy crap Spencer's finally getting in-game!

5. Well even if they sound simliar they nay not be the same person!
10275. ...
-10. Yeah even I don't believe that, go blame Mellisa Fahn fro saying she didn't voice Anise.
19. You can't trust your ears, only facts.

Errrrr anyways....oh I have nothing to say. In fact I could have sworn I was never here in the first place.

I have no idea then Aldrius why, somone mentioned that those were placeholders until James got done with Resident Evil 5. So who knows, I'll agree that his old voice was better, when Metzen does it it sounds like.

"It will bring DOOOM.....DOOOOOOOOOM!"

"Too soon Executis...TOO SOOOOOON!"

Metzen DID say the guy who did Zeratul (and General Duke) died... but... that's not true. So his memory must be worse than he says it is... or maybe I'm wrong... this is weird.

James Harper isn't dead, that's not who Metzen said was dead.

He said a different name for who voiced Zeratul.

So IMDB might be casting him wrong. Or Metzen is mistaken. Only 2 explanations.

Metzen himself voice-acted The Marine, The Siege Tank and General Duke.

Not according to Metzen. Heh.

Jack Ritschel was the name he mentioned. He did the voice of Artanis, the Overmind, the High Templar, and apparently General Duke... and apparently Zeratul...

I think he's mixing up Zeratul and Artanis, though... because those voices are on about as opposite sides of the spectrum as you can get.
