Orb of Slow If you could retcon any piece of Warcraft lore...

What would it be?

Personally, I'd shorten up Alleria's age.

EDIT:

I feel like I should have set some rules from the beginning... This basically turned into Worst Moments Thread 2.0. I intended it to be for smaller lore moments, but eh...

Let's add them now:

1) You can change one piece of Warcraft lore, any piece. Here we classify a 'piece' as an event or a development (a character dying or going crazy, a faction taking over some region, a battle happening, a nation changing allegiances, someone's origins being changed, a race getting more aggressive or peaceful etc.)

2) You can't retcon a whole work out of existence (so just saying "WoW never happens" or "TOD novel is completely non-canon) is a no-no). However, you can retcon some pivotal moments of this work (the Second War lasted longer, the faction war never happened, Stormwind was destroyed by the demons, Forsaken never joined the Horde etc.)

3) You can retcon other retcons (like, "The Draenei retcon never happened, Eredar are a completely different race!")

4) If you've done some really AU retcon (like, "Lothar wasn't killed by Doomhammer"), please give us an overview of how at affected the rest of the timeline (for example, "The rest of the timeline goes as usual, but that goddamn Turalyon is out and Lothar leads the Alliance Expedition like a true SAC!")

5) Have fun and try not to flame the others!

Most of BC, the Silver Hand being under Tirion's command, the fact the the night elves' allies are now just some forest creatures that joined them just to beat the Legion, Zul'jin's death and other stuff I can't remember.

Salvage Kael, I'd probably make him stray off the straight and narrow but eventually he would realize that his people, his world and a happy life outweigh becomeing a homicidal demonic crazy.

What Pixy said is tempting, but feels like cheating

I have to admit seeing Kael as the king of Quel'thalas would have been awesome, especially if he'd get more screentime than Lor'themar. Would be interesting to see how he'd act in the whole Garrosh situation.

The idea that the Horde isn't evil.

The Alliance's three rules on faction conflict:
1) You can't win.
2) You can't break even.
3) You can't leave the game.

The fact that some members of the Horde were turned evil. If they wanted a faction war, they could've had one without painting the Horde black.

So many things to retcon...

-Doomhammer killing Lothar in honorable duel. Id go back to Lothar being assassinated by the traitorous Doomhammer. I just see this retcon as way for Blizzard to start the "Orcs are awesome and definitely not bad guys" attitude.

-The whole Deathwing storyline in Cataclysm. That includes the super-hero Thrall and Aggra.

-Kael going evil. He hould have sided with Akama and betrayed Illidan and Vashj.

That's currently my top 3.

And here's one I do in advance.
-I wouldn't have made Turalyon and Alleria neutral. In fact, same goes for all Alliance heros. Ijsut have this feeling it'll happen.

I felt this way at first, but I've come to change my mind for one main reason: Lothar doesn't look stupid anymore.

I think Kael had more shared history with Vashj and her other half of the highborne then with Akama and his Draenor shenanigans.

I can definitely see him ditching Illidan (especially after the laughable last mission of the Blood Elf campaign - sending Spellbreakers at Doom Towers, WTF - culminating with the whole embarrassment before a giant KJ). But I don't think he'd side with the draenei of all people.

Personally, I thought that this is exactly what was going on back in the TBC days before 2.4.3.

Yup.

Indeed, I have trouble finding words to describe how awesome Horde politics would be with good ol' Kael in the mix.

Also to make things more clear, I'd have him defeated in Tempest Keep as before (though perhaps I'd ease up on villainy a bit). And then on Quell'Danas he betrays the demons and helps renew the Sunwell (I'd probably cut Velen out of the picture, that never made sense in the greater story).

Hostilities between the Horde and Alliance. Any of them. They don't have to like each other, but they won't be fighting.

Too much minor stuff to list, so I'll limit myself to entire sources:
-Tides of Darkness novelization
-Cycle of Hatred
-That goddamn comic (and the first guardian while we're at it)
-****ing cataclysm.
