Default Justice League (Spoiler)

Just came back from it, overall I love this movie, full of actions.

DC FINALLY realized that NOBODY comes to see heroes being feared and hated by people, they want to see action and heroes unite to fight big bad first. In this movie they pretty much disregarded the dark tone from MoS and BVS, which was 100% RIGHT, MOS would have been great instead of decent/ok without this tone.

The action was cool, every hero was handled correctly, they didn't choose to nerf Superman and still kept Wonder Woman&Aquaman badass through the plot design.

Of course, the lack of previous installments and the length made the movie a bit too rushed, especially how did they form this team. It could have been better if we've got 1-2 more movies before this one to set it up. The actors were fine, even Ben and Gal tried their best, just none of them were spectacular like RDJ.

Superman's resurrection and come back to sense could have been handled better, especially regaining his mind should be more than just LOIS.

The villains were pretty much the weakest part of this movie. It got little plot and characterization, and was quite weak. I just don't get it why did they use Steppenwolf when DC got tons of better villains. Brainiac would have been. He really sucks before Zod and his crew.

Overall:
  • If you hated the tone of MoS, BvS, loved Wonder Woman, and you're willing to meet DC somewhere in the middle, then you might like this film.

Pros:
  • DC succeeds at having a film with a complete plot! Gold star for you, WB!
  • Cyborg is really well done. The CGI looks pretty good, he gets plenty of screen time and character development and he feels like he belongs with the other heroes.
  • Wonder Woman is not ruined by this film.
  • Awesome flash back featuring Amazons, pre-soggy Atlanteans, unidentified gods and Green Lanterns battling Steppenwolf long ago.
  • Weird Lord of the Rings vibe as Amazons, Atlanteans, and "the tribes of man" each get a mother box to protect.
  • Opening scene with Superman through a kid's cell phone camera is very endearing and well-done.
  • Great battle scenes all around.
  • Scene of Superman almost matching Flash's speed.
  • New Gods reference!
  • Batman's "save one person" line.
  • Batman calling out Wonder Woman on her absence.
  • Superman asking Batman "do you bleed?"
  • Lois is Batman's contingency against Superman this time.
  • Commissioner Gordon!
  • Superman's vibrant new red and blue.
  • Cyborg's booyah.
  • Cyborg's transformed look at the end of film.
  • Batman's "he's more human" speech.

Cons:
  • Steppenwolf is pretty boring and forgettable.
  • Steppenwolf's CGI is distracting.
  • Obvious Whedon jokes are obvious.
  • Suspense and sense of imminent danger killed by awful Superquips.
  • Showcase of Superman against Steppenwolf makes rest of League pretty irrelevant. Andy no like overpowered Superman.
  • Batman's toys
  • Many trailer scenes omitted.
  • Batman's "something's bleeding" joke.

Mixed:
  • No "Knightmare" scene reference or explanation... yet?
  • Motherboxes combine into "Mother"? Not explained.
  • No Darkseid build-up or cameo. Possibly to avoid Avengers/Thanos comparisons?
  • Post-credits Luthor/Deathstroke "our own league" scene. With hookers and blackjack? Look, there's no one else alive in the DC films universe that we've met that could take on Superman or Wonder Woman, so Luthor & Deathstroke don't seem like much of a threat.
  • No Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Robin, etc. references, suggesting no allies of Batman around at the time.
  • Boomtubes should make really big boom, come on.
  • Detective that Gordon speaks to is weirdly credited as Crispus Allen (aka the Spectre)... why?
  • Scenes with Barry & prison dad were done very well, except they lacked context! Moviegoers unfamiliar with Flash have no fucking idea that Barry's dad is really innocent.
  • Alfred's joke about the Penguin kinda blackballs that character from ever being a serious villain in this universe.
  • Of all jokes, I expected a Martha joke, and never got it!

There was, like MoS, like BvS, a single scene that ruins the flow of the movie and fundamentally shows the lack of understanding of the heroes.

In MoS, it was Superman killing the kryptonian ship yelling they had their chance. In BvS, it was Martha. In JL, Batman using a gun

There are like 20+ bigger names on DC's villain list than Steppenwolf .

This version of Batman uses a gun. It’s dumb, but at this point they’re rolling with it.

I doubt Darkseid even needs such setup. The first thing is to let the movie have a great villain.
