Ore Stoneborne: The Dwarf thread

Let's talk about dwarves because why not? Who are your favorites and why? Why are dwarves so awesome? Why are the iron dwarves the best of all? Do you want to see more wars between the clans?

Iron because they look the best and are uncursed. Earthen get the second place.
Don't know, they simply are.
See the first answer.
Not between those in the council. I wouldn't mind foreign clans fighting against the Alliance's dwarves.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of them arguing with each other in game...

I actually started to like Moira after 5.3.

Of course, I still wish she'd go back to wearing her Slave Leia costume from BRD...

Anyone noticed they finally took Moira out of Blackrock Depths? There's a Dark Iron Priestress in her place now.

According to the wowpedia that always happened after you completed the quest.

Like all of them. The council needs to be played up more. They need to be treated a bit less like jokes (so do Gnomes).

I would like to see more of the Senate. Presumably it has the presence of the major dwarf clans (apart from the big three), but I'm curious as to how it operates.

I liked Miora but then they mellowed her out to be Varian's flunky and most of my interest in dwarf politics wasted away.

The only thing cool about then now is that they are vikings, and vikings are awesome, but not enough to cary a race.

I disagree - I think it was an incredibly saavy political maneuver on her part. She had nothing to lose - the other two clans act all distrustful and unwilling to help, and she steps up to get the job done. Earns her major points in the larger picture, and helps legitimatize the Dark Irons as a true ally to the Alliance. I *LOVED* that development.

My Dwarf warrior is named "Swede." Your argument is invalid.

She is supposed to be a politicking bitch, true, but Varian personally slighted her and threatened her kid IIRC, that is not something a character like her would forget. She has to be out for Varian, looking to fuck him over, period.

Also true is that it would be right up her alley to be doing this to improve her political position but do you honestly believe she will not turn on Varian the moment she is in a position of strength? That is how she should act but I honestly doubt an Alliance character will act that way at this point tbh.

Again honestly speaking, do you see her acting in character ever again?

Why, exactly, is it bad for Moira to have development where she realises that acting like a tyrant when she first arrived to Ironforge was a silly, foolish thing that ultimately resulted in more of a threat to her son than she has ever suffered from before?

It's not unreasonable for her to turn a new leaf completely.

She -is- Magni's daughter in the end, I think that's what we're seeing more than anything else.

I only remember he was ready to execute her when she held Anduin and the rest of dwarves hostages in Ironforge.

Isn't Moira supposed to be juvenile? I can see her being less set in her ways than the other characters we have, learning from the mistakes of her not-so-far-away youth. I always saw her actions upon her return more as a sign of her inexperience than actually politicking.

Which he shouldn't have done.

Moira wasn't 'holding the dwarves' hostage and at the time Anduin had already ESCAPED and Varian KNEW that he had escaped.

He still went ahead with the operation to 'rescue' Anduin.

Again, when he already knew he was safe and sound.

She was holding everyone hostage, or what do you call not allowing anyone to leave?

She's at a right to do whatever she pleases with her city and her subjects. That was specifically stated in the book. She is perfectly within her right to do what she does as the legal and sovereign monarch, which she is.

What Varian did was, at the end of the day, violating the sovereignty of a nation. Ironforge would have been well within its rights to declare war in return for the stunt he pulled. He's just lucky it paid off.

Neither, he's Irish.

When they're in Ironforge, they go by the laws of Ironforge.

As tyrannical as it is, that's the end of it.

My wishlist of dwarven lore is basically the same as my wishlist for every other race (bar humans and pandaren):
-Learn more about how their government works outside the identity of its leader
-Learn more about how their religion works outside the identity of its leader

It's really astounding how little we know about most races in these regards : /

I want to know more about what the regular citizen knows about the Titans, how they react to this knowledge and what 'll be done with this knowledge. Knowledge for knowledge's sake is nice, but I'd like to see some repercussions.

I'm aware of that, but that could be due to Blizzard's limitation in depicting him like anything else due to the lack of any in-game models resembling a baby dwarf more closely.

Are there any other lore sources that describe him and talk about his skin color? Also, is his name actually Fenran or Dagran II?

At times I really feel Blizzard is intentionally pulling moves 180 degrees opposite of what I want. If they wire tapped my phone they wouldn't be able to screw me over worse, just about every move they make is the opposite of what I want from this franchise. I am just really disappointed and tired y'know? Not just about the dwarves.

I really need to quit this franchise tbfh.
