Am glad that they have two playable character choices, with different gameplay for each. This essentially doubles the replay value of the game. Will prob play as Emily first, and then Corvo the second time.

It's very strongly implied, especially in a low chaos playthrough, where Emily will refer to Corvo as "Daddy" in her drawings of him, and one of Havelock's journals mention that he's come to suspect Corvo is her actual father but doesn't know for certain.

Only obliquely. It's heavily implied Corvo and Jessamine did the nasty during a Fugue Feast, which doesn't really count in a court of law.

More thoughts:

Is that Karnaca itself in that shot of the coast? I'd have expected it to be bigger. I hope they don't lose the sense of scale that was on display in Dishonored's in-game maps and skylines. But I might have already mentioned this.

At first, that guy's little speech about nothing being an accident rubbed me the wrong way, but as I think about it it's actually really cool. It demonstrates the ethos of a watchmaker. This seems to be one of the technical genii behind the new robots, which seem to rely on clockwork. "Nothing is an accident. Everything is in motion. All of it has led you to this exact second in time." Those are the words of a man who believes in a deterministic universe of gears and cogs, and who LOVES it. I can dig that.

You can play as Corvo AND Emily?

SOLD!

I would have been happy with either.

You'd think I'd get tired of watching this trailer eventually.

I'm not really sure why they gave Corvo such a weirdly generic haircut. Wasn't his greasy ponytail kind of a trademark?

You're in for a treat.

The writing's not exactly Shakespearean, and the best written character is the world itself, but it's a fantastic stealth game with profound depth and spirit and countless little touches you might not even notice until your fifteenth playthrough or so.

I don't think that there is that much to know about them. Their implied intelligence and that the Outsider is watching them just takes away the unique aspects of humanity and adds to the Lovecraftian feel of the greater backstory.

Humans are a speck on a tiny chain of islands (where nearly everything is hostile to human life) in a massive ocean (where everything is hostile to human life) with a single giant continent (where everything is hostile to human life) on a planet that will eventually (per in-game books and twitter answer) be consumed by the Void. That is grim.

He probably still protects her as he did for her mother.

We do not know if Corvo is her actual father, but everyone seems to think that is the the case. Is is heavily implied but never stated.

I really like that Dishonored managed to make a point without coming out and saying it. There's too little suggestion in the way games these days, and perhaps ever, communicate information to the player.

Dishonored didn't need to come out and tell you Corvo fathered Emily to make you understand that it is true.

To be fair, the idea of the bodyguard bumping uglies with the one they're protecting isn't that uncommon a trope.

Bodyguard crush and whatnot.

That said, I do like how they work it in the game, with the fugue feast and whatnot.

While the plot of the game itself wasn't great, the World and background lore that they made was great.

Again, it is really probable (more than the parentage), but never said outright.

Inasmuch as Corvo is Emily's father.

I keep on trying and then giving up on that. So much easier to just kill those who gets in you're way. Then sometimes let the actual target live (though in fairness some of the time because it would be a harsher punishment).
