Default Thor 2: The Dark World

It's awesome.

Tom Hiddleston's acting made it, of course. Everybody else felt like a second fiddle to him.

Comic relief was also great this time. It was actually funny, and used correctly - to contrast with the typical super-fighting scenes. Very much unlike, say, MoS, where the pathos-filled epics left little to no place for the emotions of "little people" and ended up a bit too boring.

Now, the villains... weren't really my cup of tea. As well as the whole notion of fantasy-armored Scandinavian deities fighting against an army of TIE-fighter flying, blaster using elven stormtroopers. The whole scene with the turrets and Asgard's shield generator really felt like something taken directly from the Star Wars. Droid Starfighters descending on the city of Theed! Or something.

Maybe those that love Dark Eldar and WH40K would love them. Not me, that's for certain. (Warhammer fake trailer makers - that's a clue for you!)

In fact, I'd say that the main antagonistic moment wasn't the whole war against the dark elves, but rather the dilemma with Loki's pending betrayal: "Will he or won't?" Let's just say that the audience cheered as hell during his... final scene.

The... "alternative romantic line" was suggested at the beginning for both halves of the main couple, but never actually developed and left hanging. Not much use looking for it.

Overall - a thrilling film with a good pace, that works due to a smart combination of funny and epic at all the right places. And, of course, Loki.

Should you see the first Thor first? It is on Netflix but I never watched it.

What? Isn't it suppose to be released next week in US?

Vader would have been a better choice.

Any post credit scene?

No it's already out, even in Europe.

Other countries seem to be getting releases before the US recently.

Do it, it's a good movie. Despite the rape of norse mythology but that's nothing new.

The Dark World is much, much better. Thor 1 -introduced- the characters, but its plot mostly consisted of Loki shooting himself in the leg unnecessarily (when he could get much better results by playing his cards straight). I'd say The Avengers is where Loki actually gets to shine and act like a true villain.

Well, the comic book already did that, so it makes sense that the movie based on said comic book would as well.

So, while the film was good, I have some qualms about it , so, spoiler time :

What was the point of Asian Norse God ? He appeared for what, two scenes ?
Why did they make Nathalie Portman so useless in the film ?
Why Malekith's second in command was a black guy and why all the other Dark Elves were faceless targets ?

Well, they acknowledge that they're norse gods. That's gotta count for something.

No mention whatsoever that they're germanic gods.

I have also noticed its not a big deal to any single person except yourself for some reason... It makes little to no difference since he plays the role well. I won't be talking about this now....

So are the end credits a hint towards Avengers 2, Winter Soldier or Guardians of the galaxy?

Actually quite a few people pointed it out.

Should we let Jackie Chan or Denzel Washington to play Zeus? Or let a black guy to play Boromir in LotR?

There's probably some who got something against it, in the same way that some people goes into a tran wreckin rage when an asian or black role goes to a white actor.
It's a bit hypocritic that complaining about a germanic god or mythologic character being acted by someone other then a germanic is somehow being viewed almost as a hate crime when a similar issue but of the opposite kind is applaused as something good.

Yeah, I don't understand why some people think let white actors play asian/black role is bad but let black guy play white role is fine.

I am fine with being against it but its nothing new and those who got angry about it are either okay with it now since the actor did a good job or simply don't watch it. This is the second Thor film so to me even bringing it up is random as well >.<. It is like getting annoyed that Nick Fury being black after he has been so in the past so many movies >.<. I dunno it makes no sense to me is all.
