Default Which class should I roll?

Alright. As most of you know, I never played WoW before. However, I recently got a World of Warcraft the Burning Crusade from my friend as a very, very, very late birthday present. I didn't want his present to go to waste, so I decided to buy WoW Vanilla and suscribe to WoW.

Obviously, I'm going to pick Orc as my race. However, I'm very unsure if I want to pick Warrior as my class. Since you guys are the only people I know who have experience with WoW, what class should I pick?

I'm playing on a PVP server by the way.

You really need to define what you liked to play in games like Oblivion, Diablo and whatnot, your name really hints you love a melee class, but the Warrior class is absurbly weak when it comes to PvP right now, but because you do not posses a lvl 55 character you can't make a Death Knight.

Also remember even if you wanna just go as a damage dealer warrior, you gotta be pretty prepared to collect tank gear and tank in dungeons, because if you roll a fucking class that tanks and/or heals, you better do your roles mistah.

EDIT: Maybe wait for the big patch to hit and roll a Hunter, your gonna need alot of keybindings and shit but its a good class to begin with tbh.

Go hunter. Orc hunter was my first character and it was a great experience. He only went to level 40-something, but it was a very enjoyable grind.

Do hunters in WoW die easily? One thing I hate when playing a new RPG game is when you just think you've picked the right class like a ranged damage dealer, you die a lot.

But, I am considering on picking hunter. Just because I've played so many hunters/ranged damage dealers on other games. Too bad they die easily...

As long as you PvE your pet eats most of the damage.

Because my main is a hunter I tend to panic when I play another class and lose more then 25% health XD

EDIT: Hunter also have Feign Death, an ability that can save you very often^^

Actually Hunters are ridicilously strong and yeah alot of MMOs had the problem fo ranged being too weak but Blizzard actually managed to make them really scary and powerful, this game btw has horribly PvP balance and Hunters are on the top brackets atm.

At 80, hunters (when played correctly) are pretty hard to kill, unless you're a Death Knight or Ret Pally (high burst, anti-kite class). As for leveling, when you hit 10 and get your pet, say goodbye to down time and difficulty soloing

Also i'd recommend going Mining and Skinning for professions, as it is your first character the money comes handy.

I thought Rogues were the ones who were feared. Meh, what do I know...

Before I make my final decision, can you guys tell me the details of the other classes? I'm still not sure whether I should roll a hunter, warrior or shaman.

My only Horde 80 (my first. btw) is a Tauren shaman. I've had more fun playing him than pretty much any of my other toons, except possibly my death knight.

Be warned, you will NEED a good totem add-on later as they can take up al ton of space on your actionbars.

Rogues are still a powerful class especially with Priests and Mages, but realy Death Knight hero class shafted pretty much any melee class out of the brackets because they got the most powerful "frost shock" and whatnot interrupts, pulls and so forth.

He's playing vanilla WoW to level with his friend I assume.

You can always make alts for classes that you want to pick up, and once your main is 55, you can make a death knight.

Forget what is OP/top tier right now. For leveling, Hunter and Warlock were fun for me (warlock most fun for me). Hunter is also really great because of all the tricks they have.

Warrior is fun too as long as your gear doesn't fall too far behind your level. They don't have as many tricks, so you need to make sure you have good stuff available. Works best as an alt character, imo, though my first character was an orc warrior.

Remember Hunters are 100% ranged just wanted to make this clear, i hope you can enjoy them and remember next patch they won't need quivers anymore.

Its pure awesomeness, because even if you are a Roleplayer you can still Roleplay to have a quiver, the quiver takes extra space which is F'cking annoyning, tho it does give the haste bonus that is going to the autoattacks of Hunter now atleast, so its a win-win tbh.

I always thought that hunters should be given an extra bag slot for their quiver. Besides, now ammo will just take up regular bag space, so it's almost like nothing has changed.

Except that ammo will stack in 1000 instead of 200. And they want to change ammo into relic-like items but couldn't implement it in 3.1^^

Having played every damn race in warcraft to AT LEAST 60, and with what orcs can do, I would sadly recommend a hunter. Only because you can fall asleep at the keyboard and still win.

Personally, I love warriors. Always have, always will. They were my first class.

But, since you said Hunter, here are some tips to help you out.

Agility > Stamina > Intellect [Essentially. Some will argue strength to AP, but if I recall, Agility to AP is better for hunters.]

Those are the stats you want to focus on. Personally, being a complete beginner to the game, I would go Beast Mastery spec. It is easy.

Another thing is, keep your pet on DEFENSIVE. Aggressive and you can hit PVP flagged characters or get too many mobs on you at once. Passive...works, but meh, defensive is the best, especially with the changes they made.

You shoot, your pet will run in and attack. You get hit, your pet will attack what hit you.

As far as what type of pet to get, that is all your choice. I would personally go with a "tanking" pet that will hold aggro on whatever you are fighting. It has been a while, but I think the Gorillas are the best tanking pets.

Anyway, other things. Pick up every item you find. Sell them, keep all the meat you find, you will need it for your pets, level up fishing/cooking/first aid as you go [More first aid and cooking than fishing. Fishing is a BITCH! D:< ] Visit the AH rarely. More than likely people will rip you off.

I could go on and on, but if you need any pointers and what not, let me know. XD
