Orb of Fire Next Expansion Hopes, Wishes and Expectations

  • If we go to Skovos, I want a new class that is somehow related to the place, even if it's not the Amazon of yore. (This also applies to other classes and their places of origin.)
  • I hope that the Blacksmith becomes a bit more relevant, instead of just being a disenchanting station.
  • I hope that we'll get to customise the appearance of our characters more, even if that involves buying new skins for real money.
  • I hope that they'll give us more reasons to play our old characters instead of just the seasonal characters, who have access to the essential FotM items.

What about you?

hmmmmmm........ Skovos. Professional monster hunter (more of a spear wielder), a la Perseus, Hercules, and Theseus? Someone who is a demigod and knows it. Alternatively, an Oracle might be better for Lore and originality (since technically Skovan Males aren't supposed to be warriors). A blind hero who is in tune with fate, giving them excellent reflexes, as well as perhaps some nice curses and DoTs. Think Tiresias. Would work well if the expansion is covering that last part of the prophecy, you know, fate lies shattered forever. Yeah, I like the Oracle idea.

If not that, a shapeshifter is in order. That said, I'm thinking that given the way the game controls and abilities work, it's either going to have to be a a transformation for each ability, meaning you change quite often, or perhaps more along the lines of your keypad abilities change you, and change your mousepad abilities accordingly.

Actually, the these ideas need not be mutually exclusive. The Oracle could be all about shapeshifting. You know you are a demigod. You channel your nature to transform yourself into a Minotaur, or a Gorgon, or Cerberus, or a cyclops or hydra and that changes your mouse abilities. Otherwise they are curses designed to do basic damage and slow down the enemy.

I think asking for real-money in exchange of skins for a RPG you already have to pay for is unethical. But then again, Blizzard sells shit on their in-game store for WoW, so that's something I could also see them doing.

PvP will be the main selling point for a class-less expansion.

Now that we have seen enough of the ptr patch there is no island that feeds, maybe it has something to do with those pages that reference the lost tv-show? maybe using them with something else on kanai's cube will take to the island of lost xD

Edit: a few more strings from the datamine related to the island:
Conv_Lore_Bestiary_P4_Leviathan
Line0:
The hallucinations are getting worse. I saw a giant made of water
today. This apparition coughed up a seething mass of crustaceans before
it disappeared beneath the waves. I watched these things dismember and
consume everything they encountered. I have named them amputators, even
though I am not sure they are real.
Conv_Lore_Bestiary_P4_Mermaid
Line0:
I can't recall if these things were always here or if they were drawn
by the island's emanations. They are vicious beyond compare, but I have
found, through painful trial and error, that if their idols are not
disturbed they will keep to the caves. Their particular evil must wait
until I deduce a way to eradicate or control them.
Conv_Lore_p4_Forest_Cleric

Line0:
Rayeld has strayed. But I maintain hope, for there is no joy to be
found that can compare to our worship. Very few grasp the transcendent
relationship between the rituals and our goddess. I... I know my son has
the true sight, and, one day, he will once again embrace our faith
completely.
Line0:
Rayeld's behavior is becoming more and more erratic. I think he
actually believes our sacrifices cruel, but we are all simply
instruments of Nereza in this life. I pray that he will come to
understand how important they are, for the goddess must be fed or evil
shall prevail. Perhaps tomorrow's ritual will open his eyes to the
truth.
Line0: Awaken. Obey. Sacrifice.

Conv_Lore_p4_Forest_Hero

Line0:
I can barely contain myself. After so many years of studying, my time
has finally come. Tomorrow I wield the sacrificial knife for the first
time. I am certain the goddess Nereza will find me pure when she gazes
into my soul and receives my offering.
Line0:
Thank the goddess my father did not see. My hand shook, and I was sick
to my stomach. During every other sacrifice I have witnessed, I only
experienced the joy of the offering. But holding the knife, looking into
their eyes as they die... for the first time, I doubt my faith.
Line0:
My father knows, I can see it in his eyes. But now that I understand
what our religion truly is, I cannot let it continue. If Nereza knows
what is in my heart, then I am already damned, so I might as well do
something worthwhile to earn it.
Line0:
As I approached the sacrifice, knife in hand, I saw her pleading eyes.
Until that moment, I was unsure whether I could really do it, With a
clear conscience, I turned the blade on my father and freed the girl,
who I now know as Sara. Fortunately, the worshippers were too stunned to
stop our escape.
Line0:
Nereza was no goddess, though I can't say what she was. She had human
eyes, but her visage was more that of some hideous demon. And when I
killed her, I felt that evil flow through me into the very island
itself. Then, it... it took Sara.
Line0:
Everyone is calling me a hero now. If they only knew. No hero does the
things that I have, and for what? They think that I have freed them, but
I have damned us all.
Line0:
What I am about to do will torment me forever. But I have no choice. It
is my fault, therefore I must set it right and do whatever it takes to
keep this evil from spreading and poisoning the whole world.

Conv_Lore_p4_Forest_Shipwreck

Line0:
Day 1 An inexplicable tide arose from nowhere, dashing our ship on the
rocks, and now we are stranded. Could the old myths actually be true?
Regardless, since our plan to study this infamous place was the talk of
many, I am certain we'll be rescued before long. In the meantime, my
research awaits.
Line0:
Day 6 It is odd?I feel the island's malevolence weighing upon me, and
hear screams on the wind?but no one has lived here for millennia. We've
only been here days, but my crew has the look of men who have been
stranded for months. I find myself contemplating the impossible: is this
island truly evil, or am I going mad?
Line0:
Day 23 Our lot is an unfortunate one. Some of us have been lost to
madness, some have disappeared, and some have dropped dead for no
apparent reason. And who or what is the crazed hermit with his bizarre
rituals? When he attacked Smythe I was forced to kill him, yet I saw him
this morning, alive. Terrifying.
Line0:
Day... day... I no longer know what day it is. I am forced to admit
that our plan was ill conceived at best. Being the last survivor, it
falls to me to rid this world of that madman if it's the last thing I
do. I have lost count of how many times I have already killed him; I can
only pray that this time it takes.
What... what does this mean?

Yeah, it's related to that demoness, but the rest remains shrouded in mystery. Like Menel said, it could be related to one of Skovos's isles, but we simply don't know enough.

Anyways, while the art below looks awesome, I'd rather not get necros. We already have the WD's, who kinda do their job.

Besides, we already have enough blonde/white haired women.

Witch Doctors aren't really anything like necros aside from being creepy, though.

It's like saying they're Druids as well because they can do a lot of animal-related shit.

Well, thematically they're somewhat dark (due to misunderstandings) magicians that can raise the dead and may focus on pets.

Thematically yes, but they both have very different temperaments, cultural beliefs, and background lore associated with them.

Admittedly though, I would rather see Druid.

Regardless of what they pick, I hope it is only inspired by old classes, like most D3 classes, and not one of the old classes. It should also be a class with more lore than the Demon Hunters, who lack the rich background of the other classes.

I kinda like the simple background Demon Hunters have, though I do wish we could know more about their shadow magic. Is it actually part of some kind of mysticism or is it just part of the fantasy of being the game's Rogue class?

I like it too, but I think that it's not something that should be repeated too often.

Thinking about it, I really do think that if there is an expansion coming then the focus will be on the final line of the prophecy: fate lies shattered forever. so whee old be most relevant to fate? what class is most relevant to fate?

I want a class that incorporates the Javelin tree from D2's Amazon, that was my absolute favourite to play.

That, or Druid.

But it looks like it's not getting an announcement anytime soon, certainly not at Blizzcon

Had an idea that would more or less be a javelin wielding Druid: a skin walker. Really creepy Native American shapeshifter. I had some friends who grew up on the reservation, and apparently those stories are taken quite seriously there.

I'd kinda like a class related to angels in the same way that the demon hunter is related to demons, thematically. I don't think the crusader or Zakarum really interacts much with the angels in their lore.

Something Celtic or Native American would be very cool, which is why I still hugely support Druid being the next class.

That sounds kinda neat.

Some shapeshifting skills, like bear, wolf, maybe something more exotic too. Spear/javeling skills for ranged, throw in some curses or chants...
